corksport exhaust problem

I wonder if "second generation exhausts" were made with less material to maximize profit. who knows, but everyone is streching their dollar these days, no exception to anyone. Has anyone that bought from the first or second GB a year ago had problems i wonder?

as long as i get the updated piece I'll be happy cuz I wanna install that & the kartboy hangers i got

thats what i'm thinking, only people who were just in this GB are having problems, updated exhausts might be the weaker culprits, which is why i was worried, but after talking with Travis i'm fine, and i will be keeping the exhaust, i really do like the way it looks and sounds (on other cars :P) and i would have hated getting rid of it... and i haven't installed it for warranty reasons, i have a closet full of mods that are waiting until i'm confident enough that anything thats going to break, has broken while the car was stock :P...

I just want everyone to know i did not make this thread to make corksport look bad in any way. All the guys at corksport have been very cool and have taken care of the problems in a timely and professional manner. I just really wanted to see if anyone else has had the problem or if it was just a limited occurance. Travis and derek have been the ones helping me and they are doing a great job. They had my new pipe to me in 5 days. And there was no bs invloved I called them with my problem and they fixed it for me. I will be using corksport for my future purchases for my car and feel that they make a good product. I mean where else can you find a turbo back exhaust that sounds this good for the minimal amount of money they charge. I can't wait for the ic hardpipie kit to come out. Well i just wanted to clear everything up.

I totally agree..just have to wait for my replacement tho :(

exactly, cost effectiveness wise, there is no comparison to this exhaust, not to mention it is a good exhaust putting cost aside... I have done lots of business with corksport in the past, and will also continue to do so in the future... and the 4" tip looks a lot cleaner than i thought it would, i figured it would be gaudy as hell, but it actually looks very nice...

it does look very nice

a little more visible on a sedan without the lip

seriously, i would have never guess that was a 4" tip, its just weird... your car looks really nice in those pics nate (thumb), its a love hate relationship with black paint and me, way to much maintance to keep it looking as nice as i'd want :p...

The only other thing i could suggest for the exhaust is a slightly steeper bend over the cradle crossmember. I had to rebend my hangers so my front pipe would stop hitting my crossmember.

well, I might be joing the cracked pipe club (not to be confused with "crack pipe club"). I have developed a leak from the mid-pipe as of the last week. I jacked it up to make sure it wasn't the bolts, but they were still tight, yet the leaking sound persists.

I need to jack it up again tonight and take that pipe off to see for certain, but i'm fairly sure that I will find a break in the weld b/c it's 100% the sound of a leak. It also smells like exhaust sometimes in my interior which is new. :( Bummer. I *may* be making a warranty claim as well.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Im sure Travis will make it right. Ive had no problems w/ mine since getting the new midpipe w/ the flexpipe

both?

he sent me the new midpipe section w/ the flex pipe installed for free, yes.

the midpipe & flexpipe are 1 peice not 2 :D

really, I'm not as stupid as that post sounded ;)

It sounded as if they were 2 pieces, but thank you for the reply. Happy new year to ya!

That's kinda funny, sorry. I feel that way a lot when I'm awake.

Shawn, as soon as you can send me some pics, we'll get you taken care of if that is the problem. I forgot to mention to you earlier that the new pieces have a flex joint in the resonator section.

suh-weet. Should find out the answer to the burning question tonight.

I've made a couple purchases through CS now, and I will continue to do business with you guys. Great service.

s*** happens to every company and their products. What seperates the men from the boys is what that company does to make it right.

CS = (thumb)

check...1...2...3...is thing on?...

Well, if any of you are still sub'd to this, here's the update. Midpipe was cracked, but not at the weld point. It cracked at the seem where is tapers back to the bottle-neck (see photos).

It should be note that Travis rocks, and is helping me get this taken care of asap. I'd still buy this exhaust over again b/c of the "$ : performance" ratio and service. I'm a sucker for killer service.
