CorkSport downpipes

did that also changed the gasket when i took it off to put on s pipe. torqued to specified amount which was max torque at 16.5 ft lbs and i know i got the right torque settings because i got a manual for all proteges and mazdaspeed protege

yea...i definitely didnt torque anything to any spec, actually i only have 2 bolts holding my J to the stock S since the one the bolts in the stock S broke free while I was working on it so now it just rotates when I try to tighten it :)

I would like to know if other people are running lean with similar set up as Mdl247.

Our test car is still running strong with no problems so I would be curious as to the cause.

hey corksport how much would it run me if i wanted the s-pipe and just the down/mid pipe.....i already have a catback installed..

well my setup is basically corksport turbo back exhaust system with unichip, unflashed ecu, aem cai, ion fmic and thats about it for performance oh also got a turbo xs mbc but got boost at stock none the less i love your kit corksport and i hope i can figure out the problem cause i wanna boost already its killin me. the hp the downpipe gave is good enough to hold me out for a while though. great product.

GOD DAMN!

This long and no one with this thing installed and no pics!?
Send me one...I'll have it on ASAP!

I have it on but cant get my digital cam to work on my computer. I used the s pipe and bolted it to my apex down pipe works good need to fix slight exhaust leak then it will be good to go. The only problem im having is since the new turbo and s pipe the car feels sluggish now going through gears spools up really loud now also. Loud whistle noise never did this before. any ideas.

Does the exhaust leak occur where the s-pipe and apex j-pipe/midpipe mate up, or is it elsewhere? It seems the sluggishness would be related to the new turbo rather than the s-pipe, right? Might I suggest fixing the exhaust leak and then seeing if that cures some of the sluggishness. I am interested in what you have to say about this setup, seeing as I have the apex j-pipe/midpipe too. Please keep us informed. Thanks for being a guinea pig.

its where the corksport s pipe meets the apex pipe. I used a metal gasket so i think its leaking from threre. Im going to take off the metal gasket and use different bolts to put it on next week. I think the new turbo is the problem it just feels like when you get to 4500 rpms it just has no power all the way through the rpms even at 6200 rpms. Before i put it on i would get a bunch of power at 5000 rpms with my afc tune i have. But even at 10 psi or 8 or even stock it just doesn't pull hard now. And before i had a blown turbo seal and it pulled harder. What you think. I changed my wastegat line and all pipes are tight.

I have the S/J combo intalled and also added a 3" cat delete to finish off the rest of my 3" exhaust. It may be a bit loud now but it makes a BIG difference under boost. Good luck to everyone else, by the way I removed the ex manifold to replace the downpipe. Not as hard as I thought.

First, I get a lean reading on my NARROWBAND A/F gauge when sitting at idle. This is common on MOST cars. Remember this is a 0-1 volt system, not much room for getting a truly acurate reading (except for the PCM which this 0-1V is converted to a digital pulse train I.E. on off on off like binary code) your A/F gauge is truly not acurate on what the car is really running.

Secondly, an exhaust leak will not cause the car to run lean. IT will show a lean conditon if its before the O2 sensors and oxygen is GETTING into your exuast. You could also be seeing a lean condition if you have a leak in your intake piping AFTER the MAF.

Hope that helps a bit.
