corksport downpipe review

okay so i set out friday to have my dp installed and head to the runs, didnt happen once me and my buddy got the stock downpipe of my speed the corksport dp would line up with the studs on my turbo!!! we then had to bore out teh housing on the dp to try and get it to fit late into saturday i was hopeless my downpipe still would match up and the stud ended up striping. after fighting it for 12 hours we got the dp insalled from practically re manufacturing the housing. i do not recomend this downpipe even though after i got it installed it sounded great it was to much trouble i ended up getting a test pipe to bolt on there to make it a turbo back and my car sounds nice, i have a cel because the top 02 sensor wont screw inplace. and right now my car is misfireing or something trough boost i dont know what it is. maybe since i dont have my top 02 sensor hooked up.

That was hard to read. I think you may have just gotten a bunk dp though, no one else has ever mentioned the problems you had with yours.

if you don't have the first o2 sensor screwed in or plugged in thats a major problem. that sensor pretty much tunes the whole car. i am betting the threads on the sensor are stripped to the point it won't thread in. this is a real common problem with the main o2 sensor when they are removed from the factory downpipe. if the threads are destroyed you will need a new o2 sensor. i would not drive the car without that sensor properly installed.

I had trouble with the studs at first too, you have to hold the dp at an angle to get the front most bottom nut started. After i figure that out i had no problems and i love the product and build quality.

yup, I had no problems installing this either. it was a pain trying to fit my ratchet to get that last nut on there (you all know which one) but everything else was totally straight forward. Awesome directions provided.

In the manufacturing process, the manifold plate or the Five bolt, top side flange is machined before welding to the pipes. this should be machined after or, more care taken read 'less heat and tack tack tack tack before final pass' The flange was warped on mine. I had to tap it on pretty hard. This interference with the stud alignment can booger up the threads. especially if it had to be pounded on. Mine does not leak and with full exhaust really increases flow dramatically. I would talk to Corksport directly about your issues. Derrick talks fast but I would think he will work with you. They do have a process problem. imo but good design.

How are you guys getting your O2 sensors out?Mine and I thought most others on these motors are ceased in there.I have a O2 socket and it still will not move and I know if I add more force it will break..

sprayed mine down really good with PB blaster...let it soak in. Got it loosened a bit and sprayed some more PB blaster and screwed it back in. Then I screwed it all the way out it came out really easy

heat it, take it out when its warm.. it really does help

yeah once i got the pipe on im satisfied with it but it was jst so hard to get on i still dont have the fifth stud bolted down becuase of the line up issue i think it was jst my dp though since every one else had such a easy install.

i know there are sticklers who decry our method, but we heat the sensor up (running the car hard until the downpipe is hot) and it always unscrews with ease at that point.

Yeah I would like to add that to my post too....I drove the car before uninstalling the O2 sensor...so it was pretty warm still when I did it.

Sounds to me like everything WOULD fit. Try adding "'nt" to those words and your problem will make much more sense.

Not that easy for me, but it was my first turbo downpipe install. Glad i did i myself though. I used pb a day before removal on o2 and came out like Aaron suggested. The heat would work too. Thanks again buddy for your advice and answering questions for me.

your right sorry WOULDNT FIT. but its on now. i still have issues with my motor for some reason my cars like mis firing or something i think it might be because on the dp i had to leave the 02 sensor of becuse its striped. think my 02 is messing up my motor????

yeah first o2 sensor is important. i had no problems i broke loose a lot of my bolts the day before after i had ran it a while i think mine was a 2-3 hour install. cant remember for sure it was about a year ago i did it.
