corksport best bang for the buck FMIC and a question

:
2001 Mazda MP3
ok, so you get an intake FMIC AND a turbo inlet... this seems like a REAL deal.

and my one question is, do they have any kind of air straightener like the cobb intake for a delicate maf?

exhaust depot is a pretty good deal....and mazda3mods.com has a group buy going on for theirs now too.. good deal

the front mount on the cork sport one is only painted on one side, just flip it around like i did on mine...

and what do u mean an air straightener?

What did you think of your CS intercooler...what were your initial impressions of it? Any numbers....thoughts what have you.

The "CORKSPORT" is on 1 side of the intercooler. You can turn it around to the otherside if you do not want the name there.

Jarod, the kit is awesome, it fit perfectly with just 2 little uesless tabs trimmed on the bumper so it didnt hit the intercooler, otherwise everything fit perfect.. the idea of the ram air intake sold me 100%...

the intercooler is bracketed right up to the radiator, which i think everyone does, but just the idea of the intake, the perfect fit, i support the corksport kit 100%... it pulls so much harder on the thruway and i cant even tell an increase in turbo lag, if there is any at all...

and theres absolutely no check engine light, i am running more rich then with the stock top mount but im gonna be getting it tuned with my downpipe/race pipe soon...

overall, i did my research and chose corksport and it was the best decision ive made on my car so far

does anyone have any dyno showing that the ram air does anything more for performance, or is not an issue for hydrolock??

As you can see from my sig, I am about to get in on a group buy, but also just noticed that turbo xs fmic kit is between $800-$900 now and exhaust depot is cheap.... so now the choice becomes harder. I have always loved cobb, but good luck finding it in stock.

1. i dont have any dyno charts, so i cant help you there...

but theres absolutely no issue with hydrolock, just this past month my buddy hydro locked his speed6 with the c-pe intake through a lake of a puddle and i went through it no problem, driving behind semis on the thruway theres nothing, and iv powerwashed it straight on at the ducts and still no moisture what so ever, but with any SRI that sits high i dont think youll have a problem...

i just like the usage of the old top mount vents, i believe it definitely gets more airflow and from the way it pulls, im assuming it added a good amount of power.

Did you opt for the Recirc option and did it come with t bolt or worm gear clamps? Also is the turbo suction noise just as loud as with a normal intake?

im venting my SSQV to air jsut because i like the sound and i found absolutely no performance difference besides for some backfires becuase of the richness in between shifts.

and you can hear the turbo suction much more, i had the c-pe intake and this set up is definately much louder, it also makes the BPV 5xs as loud, hearing the turbo spool up was never better with this jsut becuase the intake is so big i believe.

since the intake is sitting right on top of the engine, wont you be sucking air then it gets hot cause it has to go thro that area?

yeah itll get hot, but that doesnt matter, its the air going directly into the engine which matters, which is why the intercooler on top was a heat soak problem, the turbo makes the air hot, and then goes through the front mount cooling it down right before it goes into the engine.

The box is wrapped in heat resistant material. Fresh air is suck in through the hood vents, not from the engine bay. If the car is moving, cool fresh air will come in. I think the only time it really gets hot air is in stop and go traffic, but thats no different than an SRI. You have to take into consideration that the aluminum piping on a CAI gets hot too and its not wrapped in heat resistant material, and sucking in fresh cool air, pretty much evens it out as far as comparison if you ask me.
