Cop shoots himself in front of kids!

eh, i still have a hard time believing he shot himself and i may be wrong. however, nobody, officer or otherwise, is going to suffer a gun shot wound, regardless of location, and continue to walk around and talk like nothing has happened.

most gun shot wounds, especially with that close of range, will cause quite a bit of blood after the initial physical shock wears off and the body realizes what's going on. the amount of time after the shot would allow his body to react and he'd definately not continue his speech. even more so because he's in a room full of kids.

anyway, why is watching a cop shoot himself funny in the first place? yeah, it was an accident and yeah he was just preaching about it being safe and what not but in no way does that make him a "tool" or make this video funny.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I work for the Goverment in the State of Georgia and I know for a fact that as a certified Law Enforcement officer that he should have never pulled that gun out. My question is if the woman said that the gun was clear then why was there a bullet in the camber? Did she just not know what to look for or what? And why in the hell did he pull the trigger. We are tought that you never pull the trigger unless you are ready to fire the gun to stop the threat, but anyway he should have never pulled the gun out and nothing like that would have ever happened. I somewhat feel sorry for the guy because he was trying to make a point about guns and violence and he was doing a real good job doing it, but he has now lost his job, it looked like he was from DEA which they make damn good money, and he will never be a police officer again. Once you lose your P.O.S.T certification it is really hard to get it back especially loosing it for something like that.

I completely agree with t3ase. Just because he made a stupid mistake doesn't mean that you have the right to call him names or anything like that. He has done his duties to protect you and try to stop the crime on the streets so that you can feel safe when you go to sleep at night! You should be thankful that he even had the ambition to try to talk to those kids about guns and violence, most police officers would rather just let those kids go ahead and screw up and lock them up later on down the road.

Sorry for such a long post but I get really angry when people just take things lightly and make fun of those who protect them. Those kids are our future and so far, with the attitudes that I have seen we might as well give up and throw in the towel.

I wonder if it had a blank and he meant to do that.
Just to scare the kids, because they never mention anyone got shot or anything.

And yes an adult figure says "Put it down....Put it down....Your Leaving"

I dunno...

i think it was a joke and he basicly made the kids aware how dangerous a gun is... NO officer would NOT be worried about if there was one in the chamber, then would he not have the safety off... IF it did hit him it was a grazed hit and otherwise he would of dropped just in the drop in blood pressure with such a close range shot.

i didn't find that funny.... (rofl)

its funny that he shot himself....(the manner in which it happened, not the ACTUAL injury)

NOT funny that he prolly lost his job....spent a day at the hospital...and any other misfortune he may have suffered that day.

peace

I disagree...I don't feel that "most" cops would rather let kids screw up, and then lock them up...but I am not getting into that...

Point being...I would not feel safe having someone like that protecting me, my family, friends etc...

In a case where a man shoots himself in front of a room full of kids (whether or not he actually shot himself is irrelevant, the gun went off), when preaching about the dangers of weapons, and he doesn't kill himself...he is an idiot...Who on earth could every say that because he was too ignorant to know that the weapon was loaded, and then it went off, does not make him a tool?...funny or not, he should never hold a weapon again...I am not saying the video is hilarious, I agree with you guys on that front...but he is definately an idiot...

His intentions where good I would imagine...but he held that glock up with the slide back for a few seconds...kept saying "its not loaded"...never looked, then snapped it shut to put it in a holster or something, and it went off...that is ridiculous...a cops side-arm is like a part of his body supposedly...they are "supposed" to know how to use them, and make sure it won't go off in certain situations...like when giving a presentation in front of kids...He is instantly labeled a tard for life for that move, at least in my book...

Also, you can relax on preaching to the community about how wonderfull police officers are...Not everyone is a fuzz hatin' half-wit...But be honest, there are corrupt cops...and you know nothing about that guy...he could be into all kinds of bad s*** and still go give presentations to kids...All we know is that he shot himself...thats it...

your whole opinion would most likely be much different if that gun would have went off into some 12 year old's face...

Life's too short to not laugh...
no one got hurt, I laugh. Things could've been much worse. If he shot a kid, I wouldn't be laughing.

That's exacly what I was thinking....

Is irony funny? I dont know. I do know that this was definately funnier the second time I watched it though! And I'm sorry, but I think that this guy was a 'tool' on this specific occasion, but I sepeculate also that he is aswel a 'tool' on a day to day basis. His presentation skills were weak, his statements unintelligable. "Tupac, Fifty, Too Short talk about these", ah, excuse me but are you trying to endors these things or what?

This led creedence to the saying 'Those who can't do teach' and further perpetuated a few stereotypes in my mind, but in short: Reality made this scary; Irony made this funny....and I dont think I'll change my mind when I sober up!
