You guys might want to consider trying some of this stuff. It is a premixed antifreeze that beat Water Wetter. It is made for motorcycle racing, but there is no reason why it shouldn't work in cars. They made it orange so if you have any leaks they are very easy to spot. We may also have a hook up on this stuff if enough people are interested. I've been using it in my motorcycles for several years now and love it. It is tough to personally say that it has drastically lowered temps since none of my bikes have temp guages, but several other close friends have seen considerably differences on their digital readouts.

The thing is would this stuff be compatible with the AWR Aluminum radiators? I know there are certain coolants you should not use with certain radiators.

I called the company directly. Here is their website:

They said there should be no problems with aluminum radiators as most of the high performance race bikes are using aluminum radiators. He said that if there was any problem they would have heard about it by now. Someone who can monitor their coolant temps digitally should try this out and let us know.

Maybe we should talk to Anthony at AWR when they open in 2 hours.

Patrick, We have chemicals here at my house to clean A/C coils (similar to radiators). If you havent already jumped into getting a new radiator, we could try cleaning your current radiator to improve its current cooling capacity. That and a coolant flush might show some good temperature drops.

Ok, I will do! How much of a discount? BTW, I just got off the phone with Anthony from AWR. He explained to me that this radiator is fine, and the one that us Non-MSP drivers should get. It would be more work to install the competition radiator on the regualar sedans due to the absence of brackets for the stock fans. Also, MSP guys who are getting the FMIC's are using the same radiator that Chris just received. I will look at my finances, and make sure they are in order before I buy this.

Mitch at Protege5online can give you a good price on the radiator as well Linux.

He quoted me a price of $450 shipped when he was running a motor mount group buy a while ago and when I just ordered my radiator a couple of weeks ago he still honored the price. I just called him up and he took care of it. Mine might have taken just a tad longer to ship because AWR was in the middle of moving their location when I ordered. The radiators are $487 plus shipping on the AWR site.

AWR high performance because it fits, and I like helping the smaller business with quality products. Plus its SWC proven.

The Protege community seems to be a smaller, tight niche (as compared to the Miata and RX-7, little alone Honduh) and so the smaller companies are out their making this stuff before the big boys do.

As you all know, Texas weather in the summer is freaking HOT! Tonight on the way to work, I was cruising in, and noticed now that spring temperatures are setting in that my coolant temp is a little higher than I like. In know back last summer driving around that my coolant temps were around 200 F while cruising the highway when the temps outside was about 103 F. I don't like that at all! That was the same day I went to the 1/4 mi track down in Ennnis and ran TERRIBLE TIMES, and lost to a spec v twice due to high temps, and the J&S Ultrasafeguard lighting up like a Christmas tree telling me that there was detonation, and retarding timing accordingly. Tonight, the temp outside was 74 F, and while driving into work, my coolant temps were around 180 when I 1st started driving. About 30 miles later, I started noticing that my coolant temps were around 190-194. This was at night. If my coolant temps are that high now, just imagine when summer hits. (nervous) It also may be time for another flush. The radiator I am considering is none other than the Competition Radiator from AWR Racing. Does anyone know of any other options that may be available?

Have you tried redline watter wetter supposed to be good to lower upto liek 20degrees or something...Also those civic raiator are supper efficient..maybe you can pick one of those up??

And how did you lose to a spec-v? Those things are slow compared to turbo'd protege's! I run them down all the time! Maybe it's time for a better intercooler??? Or an intercooler kit? Get's the ic temps down to like -54degree's f!

It was like 103 F outside that day. Higher temps and personified heat soak simply owned the hell outta me. Yeah, I know I can beat them easy. I do it all the time.
