Considering the overall quality of the car you're considering trading for, I'd suggest you hang onto your MS3. It's not perfect, but it's light years ahead of a Trans Am in terms of usability and build quality. I used to love the Forumla Firebirds until my roommate bought one. He didn't even really realize what he had...he just bought it because he liked the way it looked. What a wretched piece of s*** that car was. I was forever shuttling him back and forth to work because the Formula was always in the shop for something.
Between nagging problems and overall poor quality, fit/finish, that experience soured me on ever wanting to own one. The big hp and "V8 rumble" may be fun for a while, but will very likely fade when the problems begin. I haven't seen a worse-screwed-together car since the original Hyundai Excel.
I think you're much better off with what you have now, keeping reliability and real-world gas mileage in mind.
