(hand) the srt IS fast, STOCK.. that crap puts down around 230 to the friggin wheels.. while msp puts around 140-150 whp.. dodge claims 215 hp to the flywheel but its been dyno'ed stock and dodge has apparently been revealing the true power of it because it came in at around 215 - 230 fwhp.. and about it being "still a damned neon".. what do you call our cars? isnt it "still a damned protege"? not bashing cuz i got a msp too but.. srt - 4 = a fast ass neon.. FAST.. msp = fast protege..Excitmnt94 said:the SRT-4. it may be fast...with a lot of potential...but no matter what...its still a damned neon. a neon ladies and gentlemen. blah.

where did it say we were the 8th best handlin car in the world? havent heard that03MSP said:I was also considering a V6 Tibby before I got my MSP. The reason I ended up with the MSP is because it comes with so many things that I would have spent money on for the Tiburon anyway.....turbo, bodykit, rims, aftermarket muffler...those things can add up quick when you buy them all separate. Plus, having the 8th best new car handling in the world is a pretty fun thing to brag about![]()
ya this has been gone at a thousand times but lets not go there... reg proteges are bad ****** ass and neons are ****** awful, dont make the comparison... evaarrritz_alan said:(hand) the srt IS fast, STOCK.. that crap puts down around 230 to the friggin wheels.. while msp puts around 140-150 whp.. dodge claims 215 hp to the flywheel but its been dyno'ed stock and dodge has apparently been revealing the true power of it because it came in at around 215 - 230 fwhp.. and about it being "still a damned neon".. what do you call our cars? isnt it "still a damned protege"? not bashing cuz i got a msp too but.. srt - 4 = a fast ass neon.. Talk about one hell of a old ass thread (smoke) Still a good read none the less, you go girl!GaBerry67MS035 said:I had been looking into getting a new car for a long, long time before I actually went out and started physically car shopping. I did a lot of research. And what was most of my research on?
.. I'll admit it. The SRT-4.
My family has owned mostly Dodges, so it only made sense that I'd be attracted to the car that's a step down from the Viper in the Dodge lineup. I mean, that much power in such a little car? It was tantalizing.
However, it took a few test drives before I realized that I was missing one key angle -- EVERYTHING ELSE BESIDES POWER.
You want nothing but power? SRT-4. You want a decent amount of power PLUS everything else? MSP.
The only SRT-4 that was around for me to test drive was on '03 yellow, and it was on display on the showroom floor at the dealership. It took me 20 minutes to get the guys to take it off the floor so I could drive it. And half of them wouldn't lay off me about being careful driving manual. **** you, just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I can't drive stick. THAT really pissed me off.
Incredible power. Amazing sound. The car just SCREAMS to go. But other than that? I couldn't shift without bashing my elbow into those goddamn 'molded' seats, the shifter knob felt like hell in my hands, the pedals felt frail, the stereo was a disaster in itself, the interior was designed horrendously, the body contours were poor, and one other thing -- the body roll. I don't know if I'm one of the few that picked up on it; but it was there. Not MUCH, I'll admit. But I felt it. Other than the throbbing engine, the car just felt awful. I think the best way to describe the SRT-4 is a rocket enclosed in a flimsy cardboard box. Get into an accident in the SRT-4 .. and you're dead.
And then I drove the MSP. It was like the seat was made for me. I'm short -- 5'1", 102 pound female over here -- but I could see over the dashboard! I could reach the shifter knob without straining! I could push in the clutch the whole way without having to throw out my leg! It could HANDLE, it LOOKED GOOD, and I could SEE. It didn't pulse with horsepower like the SRT-4 did .. but it sure as hell wasn't weak.
So the next morning, after the test drives, I sat in my living room -- staring at the specs for the SRT-4 and the MSP, trying to figure out what to do. I'd had my mind set on an SRT-4 for months. Almost a year, since I'd first heard of it.
.. But after the test drives, it wasn't really all that hard. And I love my MSP.![]()
did you read any of this thread at all?itz_alan said:NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, NO TIBURON.. unless u are planning on dropping a lot of money.. stock wise, msp owns it.. im pretty sure its faster, handle is MUCH more superior, backseats in the tiburon are killer (i know from experience) haha.. and its either its VERY low on torque or something, cuz when i was in one.. (v6 MT), i felt NO pull what so ever.. so MSP! hehe OR srt if u want power =)
mspdfreak said:The last review I read on the SRT-4 says it's very fast, but the interior is "low-rent", fit and finish is "sub-par" . "With the exception of what's under the hood, the SRT-4 is still an entry market Dodge Neon".
This thread will self-destruct...now.(burn)
