Since we were supposed to be able to buy a minidisc player for these radios I"m wondering if there is a way to connect an ipod to them....anyone have any luck on that?

...I should mention...without the use of the FM transmitter.

Auxmod, by Sylfex--search the forum, you'll find it. It plugs into the modular plug in the radio for the minidisc/tape deck etc. Had mine for 3 mos now---worth it!!!!

Trying to...their website says they got some as of 1/29/08 but how many are left? Dunno, no response to my emails yet & I'm not quite willing to throw 60.00 into a black hole & no, that's not a ho/john pun either.

Still no response from sylfex, another email sent for inventory status......Has anybody else bought/received one recently, like since Feb or March????

Autogrom makes one.

I got one hooked up int my car.

i got it fro mthere ebay store for a few bucks. easy to install...

i love it

I did search on autogrom & all that came up was in russian. No luck on ebay either. Any helpful links?

Sylfex doesn't respond much to e-mails, but I got mine within a week of ordering...xtra protection too since you pay w/ Paypal....

Yeah, I read where they only answered emails once a week. Went ahead & ordered one. Cassette module on it's way out! Only thing it has ever been is 3 extra lights on stereo at night. Never used it at all other than to know that it worked.

I just got one last week. They shipped extremely fast, no problems. Works great although I recommend just installing through the tape deck panel instead of taking the whole head unit out. To secure the rca cable to the headunit, just use a good twist tie instead of the nylon zip tie that they may or may not include. I'm not sure how you'd manage a nylon tie without taking out the head unit but the twist tie worked fine in the limited space through the tape opening. I bought a ground loop isolator from ebay for $10 and also secured that inside the tape deck area with a twist tie. I added a short male/male raca cable to the GLI and just ran it down behind the climate controls to the the little area behind the cup holders. Didn't have to remove or modify anything to do it.

I did something similar with my install- I did take the whole head unit out, though. I used a ground loop isolator I sourced from Crutchfield & dropped the cable down like you have...works great, I can tuck the cable back & "hide it" when the car is parked somewhere...

The Auxmod uses a 3.5 plug--could be the GLI juddmenkveld used had an rca jack....

The ground loop isolator I got thru Crutchfield has a 3.5mm plug/jack (thats why I bought it- $17.00). The gli is plugged onto the auxmod, then I have a 12" cable running from that to where I have the ipod. all in all a clean set up.

I'm just gonna run a male-male 3.5mm cable to slot under ashtray & let my 30.00 Apacer 1gb MP3 player ride there. I have an ipod cig lighter charger that has a usb connection on it that I can plug it into for pwr if 8 hrs of music won't be enough. lol. Pretty good battery life. Impressed so far with this little cheapy thang. Does pics, has fm, works as flash drive, plays avm video, records voice or radio. Pretty cool for a little junk mp3 player. I have the oem 6 disc changer so there's another 8 hrs of homemade CDs to listen to. I think that should more than cover my needs.

You may still want a ground loop isolator---the cig lighter on the P5 is not grounded, which is why I got alternator whine & spark plug 'grumble" out of my spkrs when I tried a FM transmitter before I went to the auxmod. If you don't plug in the MP3 player to the cig lighter while playing you should be OK, but if you plug it in while playing.....

I usually charge the thing off the cable box at night since it has a usb port on front so I shouldn't ever need to do that but if I need to charge it I'll just listen to the CDs or FM while it's charging or get the gli. Appreciate the heads up.
