Connecting an ipod to the multi function radio

I bought an Auxmod for my 2003 P5 and it didnt work. I went to a stereo shop and when they plugged it in I lost all sound in my stereo. Plus when we pushed the MD/Tape button nothing happened. Needless to say I was a little disappointed because I dont want to buy a new deck just to listen to my iPod.

Has anyone else had the same issue??

will that device work with the MD/Tape out connector on a protege 5??

yeah it actually comes up as a CD changer.

it play it off my play lists which i advise to do.
it charges while its on.
i easily wired it and have it all hidden so the ipod is in my glove compartment.
you can change the cables to plug into other audio devices such as xm units and what not.

you do have to pull the head unit but its really easy to do

jsut hit the cd button.

you can still use the regular CD player and then hit it again and it goes to cd Changer.

i drive logn distances and i would rather leave my ipod in my car so this was very ideal for me

I purchased this device. I've had a few weird hiccups with it like it recognizes old playlists that I've long since deleted from the iPod. I've only had it in for a day though so I'll see if I can work that stuff out.

I really hate the way I mounted it (not at all really). It's just kind of dangling at the top of the glove box. I can't put it all the way in the glove box because the cable is too short. I need to find a location to mount it. I'm thinking I need to remove the glove box to get access to something to mount it to. Is that pretty straightforward? After fighting the OEM radio for an hour to remove it I'm a little hesitant to go ripping out my glove box.

I've got the GROM device installed and working beautifully now. The glove box is a cinch to remove. Just unscrew 10 screws and pop it out. I affixed the GROM to the side of the head unit with sticky velcro. The iPod cable is routed through the glove box. So far I'm very pleased.

Here are a few install pictures:

i actualyl pulled the radi and mounted the grom in the emopty space where the tape deck is and put it so i can change the cable to audio by removng the cover on the radio. and its routed threw the glove box.

if i rmemeber ill take them tonight when i get home.

i was going to take pics of me doing ti for the install but jsut kinda did it and forgot to grab the camera.

ok here you go......

I keep the ipodi n the glove compartment adn you cant see it at all

I hooked the grom up to the space where the cassette would be.

the way i put this it allowed me to easilly chagne the wire to hook up to my xm or otehr device if i ever choose too

Auxmod works great

Installed mine this morning, along with a ground loop isolator. Piece of cake and works just fine with my generic MP3 player

How is anything that is hooked up with 3.5mm audio cable gonna be controlled by the oem HU? It's only audio input. It would have to be ipod cable or USB to be controlled & charged with headunit. OEM has neither. Add grnd loop isolator if charging while listening so no feedback noise and use cig lighter to charge from or listen to something else while charging if no grnd loop isolator. BTW, are you talking about auxmod or grom thing?
