Hey all,
Im having trouble with my computer. Seems as whenever i sign on to my yahoo browser my computer freezes up. Ive noticed that when this happens , the CPU usage jumps up anywhere from 50%-90% Normally its around 0-5%.
If I do a Ctrl/Alt/delete and End task on the browser then sign back on a few times it will eventually stop. My Internet Explorer works fine along with all other programs(applications?).
Any ideas what could be wrong? Could this be some sort of virus? I do have Norton Internet Security 2006 but it does not find anything.
Please keep in mind I am a computer idiot.
TIA,
Julio

As I recall there was a Java-based virus that came out for Yahoo recently. If you go to check your email and such.. And since Yahoo is big on Java.. It's possible that you get a *major* slow-down simply because your computer is loading the JRE (Java Runtime Environment, needed to run Java stuff) into memory.
Indeed, since you say it disappears after a while, just be patient.

have you tried using a different client for it rather than just yahoo's to see if you still get the problem? if you do in fact have to load jre your computer will hate you for a little while while it does that, so maybe an alternative would be a different IM client
