I should have the first batch of them ready in about 2 weeks here. I am laser mapping the stock gaskets for the intake manifold and the throttle body and then getting exact water jet cut copies of them made in phenolic in various thicknesses. I'm also going to verify that the hardware/bolts fit fine and then they'll be all set to go. Not sure on pricing but they should be quite reasonable, the water jet cutting will be my biggest expense on each of these and I'll be working with several companies to pull the price down as much as I can for you guys.

If there are other gaskets you guys want in phenolic or possibly some other materials let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

Thanks much!

Yes they do. However, the fit wasn't perfect on them from the one exposure I had with them, so I'm remedying that, and also hoping to be well under their cost.

The beauty of market competition. Multiple sources... consumer benefits.

wont spacing the intake manifold further from the head cause the intake elbows to be even closer to the master cylinder? people already complain about their aftermarket intakes hitting the master cylinder.

I'm not familiar with that issue, but that is one thing I'd consider. I'm also right now initially focusing on the 2.0L FS motor. Then probably the 1.6 and then the motors in the 3. I have access to fitting the spacers to a 2.0 FS engine so that is the reason for that route, after that I will see what I can do for the others. If you can take pictures of that problem on the 3 I can see what I can arrange and see if I can come up with anything else of value.

Thanks!

I spend the better part of a day using a dremel on mine... the match was horrible.

i was refering to the 2.0L fs-de. I hear about a lot of people complaing about a rattle under the hood after installing an intake. It's usually the elbow tapping the mastercylinder.

My mazda3 has the intakeon the front of the motor.

All 3 of the 2.0L's I have access to are turbo, so the pipe routing is a bit different. I have access to a 4th 2.0 I guess, and he has a NA P5, so I can fit them to his and see how things go.

Much appreciate the heads up!

Thanks,

Steve

I'm purchasing factory gaskets for the 2.3L for the Mazda 3, the 2.0L for the MSP, P5 etc, and then also the gaskets for the 1.6L in the older protege's. I'll get them laser copied today and then get quotes on manufacturing after that. But I will have exact matches in phenolic made of the factory gaskets accurate to within a few thousands of an inch so fit will be as good as factory. I'll test the 2.0L one and make some modifications if need be to make fit better... but the parts will be coming!

Thanks guys,

Steve

How thick of a spacer are you making? I just had the intake off today, and I'm thinking the egr tube would have a hard time mating if the intake was out too far... Also the support bracket would need to be modified.

Will you do other gaskets, non-Mazda? I can contact you offline if needed.

I will have access to and will test fit the spacers to the MP3, the MSP and a P5. I will double check all that today, but yes I do understand that there may be some difficulties with some of those parts, but we will work around it and I know that the spacers do go on as people have used the outlaw engineering ones without too much issue. The spacers will be about 1/4" in thickness.

If you are willing to test and deal with initial fitment and can get a few people to buy them off the bat so I can recover costs that would be an option for sure. I'm doing the first set on the 2.0 FS motor and then once I have an idea of costing and so forth in a more solid manner I'll be able to say specifically what I need to be able to develop each different model/set.

Thanks!

Steve

I can send you a gasket if you want to get a grice quote. I will handle all the test fitting and arrange enough sales to cover the cost. No problem. Let me know,

Sounds good. Let me get through the development phases on the 2.0 ones, and then everything else after that will be rather smooth sailing :).

Thanks!

Steve

yep :). Got the measurements of the gaskets done, making solid models and working on a fabrication quote. Hoping to be ready to go in about 2 weeks.

Gah! And I JUST had my intake manifold off, too. Damn my poor timing! Oh, by the by, you might want to take one of the IM bolts and offer a set of extended ones with the kit, too. =)
