Coming from a 2008 Acura TSX, alleviate my 1 concern

I've had my 16 almost 3 years now. I can count on one hand the number of times I whish it was faster. And have fingers left over. And one of those times I still remember. 2 lane road. Semi in front of me. I wanted to pass, but thought I should just be patient in that situation. ;)
You just cannot be afraid to floor it. This car WANTS you to floor it. You won't hurt it.

You said it. It all depends on where you drive. If you're in town or on the highway most of the time, you won't need or miss the turbo. But if you regularly drive two lane roads, you'll want that turbo.

It not only wants you to floor it, you need to floor it. And it DOES wake up. There's just not much more there at 70 plus.

Ask yourself: how often do you really need it?

Take another test drive and push it a little.

.........if you don't redline it you've not really test drove it. No joke :)

This is what I did.

I did my first test drive, then started reading comments about lack of acceleration at highway speeds, so went back and did another test drive specifically acceleration/passing on a 70 MPH highway. My exact words were "I don't see what people are talking about."

That being said, I ended up deferring the purchase and in the meantime the turbo was released. I bought a Reserve.

This. Some people are afraid to stomp on it. There is actually a little button under the gas pedal called the kick down switch. This does nothing if you are at a stop and punch it. But if you are at speed and punch it to the floor you will feel it CLICK. This forces the transmission to downshift giving you a bit more ... OOMPH. Common on many 4 cylinder engines.

When driving my wifes 2018 CX5 Touring it feels like an absolute ROCKET compared to my 2016 Jeep Renegade. As other poster mentioned....I also don't see an issue with acceleration on the non-turbo its adequate.
Also we get excellent gas mileage, 32-33 mpg in combined hwy/town driving....back roads(35-55mph) net 36-40mpg when cylinder deactivation is engaged frequently.

I have NOTHING but positive things to say about our 2018 CX5, in fact we may become a 2 CX5 household as driving my Jeep is a constant reminder of how much more I enjoy the CX5.

THAT's what we like to hear!
