COBB AP question

question....would it be a big problem if I was running a forge bpv, since cobb reccommends to use the stock bpv?

Cobb recommends the stock bpv as other valves tend to cause overboost.

Directly from the map notes: "AFTERMARKET BOVs CAN ALSO MAKE THE CAR OVERBOOST, WHICH CAN CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE"

also i bought the car with the mscai already on, where would i find the straightner if i had one. closer the the air filter, or at the opposite end?

well looks like ima have to sell my forge because im not planning on getting a tune for awhile

no need man. all of my friends with aftermarket bovs and other intakes besides cobb.

have been running maps with no probs. dont sell it

no, the Str8tner goes in the maf pipe. take off the filter pipe and couple, if someone installed the MSCAI. you will see it in the maf pipe where the coupler connects the filter pipe to the maf pipe

As long as your blow off valve is a recirc bypass valve, then you should be ok, just make sure that it's not too tight and you should be fine. If it is a vent to atmosphere, it isn't ideal, but shouldn't hurt anything too much. The air straightener should be ahead of the MAF sensor (behind the filter). If you don't have one, call AEM and get one from them.

The MS3/6 AccesPORT is the same part number. The AP should recognize the car upon installation. Once it is installed, simply download AccessPORT updater from our website: http://www.accessecu.com/cgi-bin/download.cgi?download=support/AccessPORTUpdater.exe

After you do this, the accessport should work flawlessly.

Well with the forge bpv, I've been spiking to 20.3 everytime at wot. I don't think thats safe, my afrs were 9.3, which is pretty rich. I put my stock one back on, and been hitting 18.6 psi on the money. my afrs were now 10.4. I think im going to run the stock for a bit more and see. Only thing that is killing me is the "ping." I miss it. haha.

oh so the AP is interchangable from ms3-ms6 but not from other vehicles like an evo-ms3 or something along those lines?

would it be suggested to change to the stock bpv instead of the forge almost fully bolted with a stage 2 ap tune?

I was seeing the same thing (spiking to 20 & holding 17,18) with my forge running blue+1, Last night I went to switch to the yellow spring, and after screwing off the top of the bpv I found a round rubber ring about the size of heavy fishing line in the top of the cap, and it was broken in one spot. Does anyone know if there is a parts list for the forge ? So I switched over to my stock bpv, and boost is lower now, but the driveability is very different, in a bad way. People have talked about the car wanting to take off with barely any throttle with an ots map. With the forge It would happen in 2nd gear, but was not noticeable in 3rd, now 2nd, and 3rd act the same. Will be using atr to fix this once I get my maf calibrated.

Correct. Only between ms3 and ms6.

No. most people aren't using cobb parts while using their maps. I'm not. I don't have one single cobb part on my car and its fine.

Someone mentioned there is a guy with all cobb parts and it doesn't run well with the maps aat all.

when you switched the bpv did you reset the ecu? if not then its still running all the trims from the forge valve. that could be causing your driveability issues.

No, I didnt think of that. I will do that tonight when I get home, and report my findings. I know I didnt do that when I first installed my forge, and everything was ok, but it's hard telling with these things.

Really my drivability improved when i switched back to the stock bpv. Also I highly recommend doing the denso spark plug swap. I don't know if its just me, but acceleration is smoother, even shifts feel better. Also before I switched I saw KR up to 5 at wot. Now, I haven't gone above .7 yet. So I think these are a must.

its the throttle thats not smooth. you can feel it jump into boost once you get near 3000rpms

people have created smoother throttle values in ATR. go to MSF and ask around. someone will give you what you need to adjust yours.

i like the way my car feels with my aftermarket BOV. just have to adjust how you use the throttle if you dont fix it in ATR

there are people who adjusted the ecu through atr for VTA and s*** like that so im sure theres a few wizzes who have figured out the overboost.

Just wanted to report on my Forge situation. Never did find a parts list, so I called up Forge, and they are sending me a new o-ring for free. He knew right away which one it was, and took my info, should have it by the end of the week. Cant wait to get it back on my car, because I do not like this stock one at all. I will be trying to enlist some help for the throttle smoothing in the next week, or two.

yeah, I've adjusted my driving to compensate, and it's not horrible, but sometimes I forget, and throw myself into the seat, down boy down !!
