cobb accesport??

mzdaspeed3 08
ok, i got a mazdaspeed3 and all i got modswise, is the cobb sri, and a turbosmart bov. is it really worth to buy the almost $700.00 bucks cobb accesport for me? plus im thinking of getting a borla catback exhaust, will the accesport help in performance at all? any one?

Yes it does but just get a used one and save yourself 150+ bucks. Catback won't much at all though. Just make more noise.

getting rid of the throttle plate limiting - leaning out your fuel mixture that you are making a little more rich each time you add another mod - and potentially increasing the boost a little (those are a few ways) - the only bad thing is you have to use their off the shelf maps if you just get the ap - if you want a tune just for you, you have to get the race tuner software and have a professional do it

Cobb has the self tuner available and you can have them customize a map for you (120 bucks i think . . . ).

Yeah it kinda sounds complicated but its prolly not right? So idk how the map downloading works ant that crap tho but if it helps performance then I'm thinking of getting it

There are an awful lot of mods out there that help your car. It is well known that CBE's only make sound, not performance. So unless you are going to do a TBE save your money. The AP is a whole other beast. I kind of look at the AP as the last thing I will do. Once I have it modded the way I want I will purchase the AP or something similar and have a professional tune done to the car. Then of course it will be finished and I will have to part it out and sell it to start all over on another car. Either way the AP does add HP/performance but needs tweaking and or tuning. The Borla sounds awesome but is costly for no power gains. Good luck. If you get that borla post up sound clips, that is my favorite exhaust.

My AP has been great right out of the box. I've been running an OTS map for a couple months because I haven't had the time to tweak anything with ATR yet but my fuel trims look acceptable, I have no excessive Knock Retard, my AFR is good throughout the powerband, and the car pulls like a ***** ape.

My only other power mod is the Cobb SRI.

You can get a new AP for less than $600 shipped on Ebay all day long (just look for sellers offering the "Best Offer" option ;))

If I had the money some of you guys seem to, I would buy the AP first, at least now that the Race software is available. Before, I could see your reasoning as sensible, but not now. That way you can optimize your tune as each new part is added and don`t have to pay someone to do it. This minimizes the risk of breaking something and gets maximum gains from each new piece.

So just get the AP instead of the exhuast you said you were going to get. I was gonna do an exhaust, but once I heard they really don't do anything I think I'll just delete the resonators and get a test pipe that will do something for me.

Exhaust has 3 pieces. Downpipe + test pipe (aka midpipe) + catback = turboback.

Catback doesn't offer much power but downpipe + test pipe will net you 30+whp.

So, is it really an extra $120 for the ATR software?

I don't believe so, unless they've all of the sudden started charging for it...

You simply have to go to the Cobb website and request a download. You'll need your AP's serial number in order to receive the download link.
