clutch rattle

My bone stock 09 ms3 with 5,000 miles has developed a rattle that goes away when the clutch pedal is depressed. What could this be, and is it possibly normal?

The throw out bearing makes sense. Doing some searching I found people whos cars have the same sound I'm experiencing. I would describe it as a marble in the transmission, but has anyone had a TOB go bad yet?

Do you still hear the noise when you depress the clutch pedal slightly (10%~20%)?

09 can you do me a favor? listen to were the marble comes from, i mean actually listen, lift the hood, let the car idle and search around. I came to find the sound is coming nowere near the transmission, but from the passenger side of the motor. if you could do this this would be a big help for me, after reading some other posts i think it might actually be might tensioner pully or the belt

you may ask why id even this this due to it going away when the clutch is let out, but mine DOES NOT go away, and occurs spiratically all the time. if someone else can varify theres is coming from the tranny, or agree with me its on the passenger side or wherever they find, ill do more research and call up my tech.

My noise is very consistent its always there when the clutch pedal is out, and always goes away when depressed

When I try to hear it under hood there is too much other noise the tell exactly where it is coming from. When in the car it seems to come from the drivers side, but I can't be sure it is. What I need to do is get a helper to press the clutch while I'm under the hood then I should be able to detect where the noise is coming from. I might not be able to do that until wendesday. I'll check it out tomorrow with a mechanics stethoscope if I can't get a helper

exactly same problem as mine. Doesn't go away even if clutch is depressed. I heard it is tensioner or something. Was too lazy to go to dealer. Going to go tomorrow and let you know (cool)

Tension pully. dealer fix

sounds like this will confirm it, i will see what hyun says about his dealer visit and schedule mine.

hey man i woke up too late (got drunk yesterday). But im 100% sure it is some tensioner because it is pretty common problem among speed3s (we are not alone with the same sound, same problem). Should be covered under power train warranty.
