Ok, I've never owned a manual car before, actually the MS3 is my first car.
Don't know much about how everything works.
Anyway I was on a hill the other day and I had my parking break on and I put it in 3rd instead of 1st and tried to launch it in 3rd and it wouldn't go anywhere because it was struggling not to roll back and move forward at the same time in 3rd.

I had a nice toasty smell the ride home.
How do I tell if my clutch is toast? and is it covered under warranty?

I've had the car since october.

Why did you have your parking brake on?When you are starting on a hill you need to give it a bit more gas then level ground OR you can use the heel toe technique.
I would guess that your clutch is probably ok.Im sure you were smelling the brakes also.

Ok.
Well just use the heel toe or gas it like I said and you will be fine.It takes time to learn the right way. Also its a good idea to know how to use the heel toe technique for downshifting because its better for the clutch and nice for coming out of a corner fast and downshifting.

yes..and if you have a wide foot like me you use the left side of my right foot for brake and the right side of my right foot for gas.
Enjoy..

you have to feather both pedals, we're not talkin slammin the brakes.. just holding the brakes enough to stop the car from rolling back when on a steep hill. And plus, you start the process with the clutch disengaged (pedal down) so no, it won't stop the motor :)
