Clutch makes a clicking sound

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could answer my question.

I have a 98 Protege, and other than random little problems here and there, the car is in great shape.

Just today I noticed when I press the clutch pedal all the way down there is a distinct *click* sound coming from underneath the car. When I pulled into my driveway and stuck my head out the window I could really hear it. It seemed to happen only when I pushed the clutch all the way down and rather quickly.

Any ideas? Is my clutch going or is this a normal sound?

Thanks in advance!

Your car is a '98, so your engine bay may be a bit different.

My '95 Protege had the clutch clicking problem too, but now it's gone, thank's to that thread you you posted a link to.
What i did was, if you look at the picture Nos posted on page 2, then not only did i grease the area inside the red circle, but also pulled aside the rubber cap/cover a bit, that's right towards the top of the picture from that red circle area, and sprayed some WD40 inside there as well.
Now, i don't know which one of these two things took the click away, but it's gone for now........hopefully for good.(cool)
