Clunking Revisited

Well, I took my car in today for the second oil change and mentioned the clunking noise. Thankfully, the guys at my dealership (Don Miller in Madison, WI) didn't try to blow smoke up my ass. The mechanic said he could make the bushing move by just pushing it with his finger. He said he ordered two more and would call when they arrived. He also agreed that the bushings may just be too small.

Just thought I'd let you know my experience!

The new one will probably be similar to the one you have on your car. After a few month of weeks, it will start to do some clunking again. I went to my Mazda dealer last week, and the mechanic add some rubber shim under the bushing and everything work fine now!

I got my mp3 from Don Miller too. I live about an hour north on hwy 151, in the town of Waupun. Well, kinda, Waupun is the only town with 10k people in the area. Have you guys done anything to your cars yet? Mine's still all stock, but I'm thinking about underlighting it. I'm assuming one of you has the yellow one that was sold like 2 days before I got to the lot. I bought mine on October 12. Anyway, just wanted to say hi to the local boys.

Nope, Doomer and I both have blue ones. Doomer got his about 3-4 weeks before I got mine and I got mine on Sept 11. (Easy to remember).

I know where waupun is.

We both live on the west side of Madison. Actually about 2 blocks away from each other, and that was by accident.

As far as I know Don miller had 4 MP3's. 3 blue and 1 yellow. The traded another dealer for the last blue one. I talked to my sales person and he told me that.

How much did you pay (if you don't mind). I know they added a bunch of money over the sticker price and I am just curious what they got. I payed Sticker for it.

So the yellow one is out there someplace.

My mp3 has a MHP intake, and snow tires. I will replacing the sub in the back because it sucks.

Well, you should register and keep in touch.

Is your MP3 squeaking and clunking too?

Madison, Wisconsin guys, I live in Appleton and hopefully I will get to move to Madison for graduate school. I also own a MP3. We should have a meeting one of these boring weekends?

I'm getting that strange, unwanted sound in the rear of my car also. I'll tell the machanic next time I get my oil change.

later guys,
M.

I got the mechanics to put shims in my bushings a while ago too. Unfortunately the noise came back with a vengence about a month ago. It has quieted a bit since then (until my crash, now I wish that the noise was my problem) but it didn't go away. I'm friends with the general manger and he says Mazda is working on something. Considering the fact that it is a wide spread problem, they are apparently coming up with a way to fix (most likely replace) the bushings. If I hear anything before you guys I'll keep you posted. Jon.

Well, Don Miller called me today and said that my new rear bushings are in. I have an appointment to get them thrown on tommorow at 9AM, and will pick up the car after work. I'll keep you all posted on my clunks. I'm surprised they came in so fast, I thought I remember another member saying they waited for at least a month... Hmph.
