clunk

Just wondering if I am the only one getting this. When shifting hard from 1st to 2nd I get a loud bang....sounds like something coming through the floor. For the record, I am using the clutch.

Now, the question is: Am I shifting too hard? As many of you know, I came from an Evo, which you pretty much could slam into gear.

Also would a change in shifting help? I do have a TRZ poly dogbone MM.

Any input would be appreciated.

Check your transmission mount (upper left motor mount) right away. If that's the problem you could end up with the engine on the ground. If it is not, at least you will have peace of mind about that.

Accelerating in 1st puts max load on the mounts. Declutching to shift suddenly unloads the mounts and the snap-back can pop the exhaust against the body if there is a problem with the mount.

I will check that out for sure!

I tried a little different shifting today going 1st to 2nd (held the clutch a split second longer) and no clunk. Definitely inspecting everything, but it looks like I may have to adjust my driving for this car.(second)
