I went to see spiderman3 last night with some friends and after the movie I was planning on heading direcly back to my apartment but that was not the case.
I jumped in my car and drove towards the highway merge (for anyone from florida that is reading this I was at glades and I95). Now, this on-ramp starts off straight and then continues on to a nice bending slow right. It then becomes a much more harsh right (the apex) and is angled , by that I mean not flat.
Basically, what I did wrong is come into the turn to hot, I accelerated into the turn not through it then out of it. When I finally realized that I should not have shifted into 3rd gear it was to late, I oversteered. And boy of boy did she oversteer like a SOB!!! So I tried to compensate for oversteering but it didn't work out like I wanted and I overtsteered again. If you can picture this I was going over 60mph into a turn you should be taking at 40mph. By this time my car was completly sideways and I slightly pulled the handbrake with my foot on the clutch. I took out 2 plastic poles and was heading down a somewhat steep grassy ditch. When I finally stopped at the bottom the car died and I couldn't see much of anything.
The dust finally cleared and I could see that a car had stopped near the road. I jumped out of the car really quickly and inspected where I was and if the car was damaged. My 2 friends stopped and came over to me. The random kid in the honda civic asked if I was okay and then got back in his car. I heard a loud hissing coming from the front of my car and found that my right front tire was leaking fast. So I jumped back in the car and was hoping the car would start up. One solid turn of the key and she fired back up, I put it in 1st and drove of the hill back onto the merge ramp. I kept driving until I finally stoped on the shoulder and realized that both my front tires were completely flat.
I called AAA and waited an hour with my friends for the flatbad to show up. A couple of cops and a firetruck showed up to see if we were okay. The Tow truck came and I drove with him back to my house. This was about 5:00a.m. this morning.
i couldn't fall asleep easily because my brain was going a million mph..I kept thinking how incredibly lucky I am that the worst that happened are that both my tires are flat.
I just took these pictures of the car so you guys can see how lucky i was...
