clock question

One small question

On the stock radio in the sport, Am I to assume there is a clock on it, or is there a clock somewhere else. I dont see any reference to a clock in the Mazda5 catalog.

Stay safe

Does the time show if the radio is turned off, or if a cd is playing?

The clock display is part of the "Information Display" above the radio. It is on the left side of the display and shows whenever the key is in the "ACC" or "ON" position. The radio info is in the center of the "Information Display" and thus the clock shows regardless of whether the radio is on or off. The right side of the "Information Display" shows the information for the automatic climate control, which you do not get with the Sport model.

So for those of us who have the 5 Sport, the left side of the "Information Display" always shows the clock, the center shows the radio info when it's on, but the right side of the display stays blank at all times. Not that we've really noticed...honestly, I had to look this info up in the owner's manual.

In canada right hand display shows ACC setting and secondly the outside AMB temperature when the AMB button is pushed....

Actually one thing that drives me nuts about that setup is when I use the AM band of the radio. A quick glance over for the time makes it look like it's always morning! no matter what time it is it's AM!!

so set the clock to 24 hour time so you don't have to deal with this "am/pm" garbage

I occasionally try to listen to football or F1 on the sports channel on AM and it is awfull.

I don't know if this is the case all over the US, but AM radio is still pretty big around here. That's where all the political talk radio and sports reside. When I had a rough commute I listened to the AM news station for traffic reports. The sound is a little flat especially for music (for awhile the kids only ever wanted to listen to Radio Disney which is on the AM band here) but the reception is good unless you are in a parking garage or under an overpass on the highway. Our big news stations here have very strong signals that reach into several neighboring states.

Yes and no. Virtually nobody listens to AM for music anymore, but there are some types of content that are unavailable on FM. AM talk radio is all my wife listens to. On our Mz5 the AM tuner is actually pretty good. On my Subaru I can barely listen to AM at all even if I wanted to.

Not necessarily. If there's one thing AM is good at, is distance. Not sure how urban/country ladygrey is, but I do know she's in Colorado which is very mountainous and AM surely owns FM in being able to hold a signal over the duration of a trip.

i listen to Xtra sports (fox sports) and ESPN radio on AM. In So Cal there arent enough open frequencies so most talk is on AM. Its not that bad once you get used to it. I mean how clear to you need a bunch of fat sports guys to sound anyways? :P
