clicking/popping when turning the wheel

My apologies if this belongs in the wheel/tire/susp. subforum, a friendly mod can move it if need be. :)

I got my car back about a week ago from the dealer, had new bushings installed all the way around and the wheels switched from front to back. Now when I turn the steering wheel, there's a click/pop about every quarter-turn. It's most noticable when not in motion, although I can still feel it when in motion.

I did a search and found a thread by t3ase which sounded like a similar problem and it ended up being the CV axle or whatever.

I have to go back to the dealer anyways since my replacement amp/sub *finally* came in, but I figured I would see what yous had to say about it. Should I stop driving my car? Thanks in advance for your help.

You sure it's not from rocks or something skipping under the tire while turning the wheels. If not have it checked out for sure.

Look under your car. If you see grease on any of the rubber boots by the wheels then it's 99% CV. If you just got your car back, I'm surprised the shop did notice any wear on them. I'd stay away from driving until you can take your car in.

CV's are relatively easy to replace. They're a PITA to rebuild if you've never done it before. I could see them not mentioning it though. :-)

I got 5 bux says they knew and didnt give a s*** ;)
I up that bet to 10 bux. I got the same thing going on right now, it's when I back out of my parking spot every morning and turn the wheel and hear a clunk, only started happening when it got cold outside so I'm sure it's just that the metal is cold in the springs or something, but check it out to make sure.

My brother just changed out the Axels on his wife's car (1999 626). To tell you the truth, it is easier to replace the whole axles than to try to rebuild the CV joints.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I got it back from the dealer a couple days ago, turns out something was arsed in the steering column. They replaced the entire column, no warranty issues since I have absolutely no mods. My car is awesome again, it's great! (drive)
