Clicking noise at shut down??

I need some help...Installed a new Stainless exhaust and Injen. Now when I shut off the engine I'm getting this clicking noise. I ran a search and got possibly the solenoid that you move when installing a CAI, or possibly just cat noises. Both of these seem like they would be universal to everyone and I'd have heard complaints of this noise before??

Help me out here any ideas what this noise is?

Last thing...I don't think it's metal contracting because it happens at regular intervals maybe 30 seconds apart and continues for about ten minutes after the car is shut off, then it just stops. :wtf:

After driving, I would pull your car up on ramps and listen under the car. I am willing to bet that it is the Cat/Exhaust cooling off. When I first got a new exhaust in my truck it did exactly what you are describing... Pretty loud, and at a definite interval. 10 minutes sounds about right too. Give that a shot and see what you come up with. Good luck!

yeah...most likely it's your exhaust...our yukon does the same thing...and really loud...is the sound a metal pinging?? if so...75% chance it's the exhaust

Yeah, my P5 does this with the stock exhaust, as did my '97 Altima. My dad's '96 Olds does this kinda loud/deep, almost sounds like a little backfire or something but quieter. It is the exhaust making the noise, but why it does it I don't know. I believe it's perfectly normal and doesn't harm anything.

I have this same noise too... its that stupid puttering sound.. i dont think its a big deal..... ive seen many cars do this. It just so happens its alouder in ours i guess... removing all that plastic from the stock intake makes things eaier to hear.

TK,

I have the same thing. It's just cooling off and contracting. Should be a result of the cats/exhaust piping and such.
