Click sound

2007 Mazda3 s touring, Galaxy Grey
Hi there. I am hoping someone can help. I recently purchased a 2007 Mazda 3 s Touring. I love it and I have about 400 miles on it so far. I hear a strange sound that I want to see if anyone else is experiencing in their car.

It is a click sound that seems to be coming from the outside of the car right under the gas pedal. I only hear it when I am in between oh about 2 mph and 8 mph after the car has been parked for a period of time. It only happens that one time then after the car is being driven it does not happen again. Meaning it does not happen again after taking off from red lights or stop signs. But each time I start my car and leave a spot like home, or parking lot at work etc. it happens. It sounds like something is engaging, but what? I searched the owners manual but found nothing that it could be. I know there is supposed to be a sound when the DSC engages but the manual said that is supposed to come from the dashboard. This sound it definitely not coming from the dashboard.

Anyone have any ideas? I hate to let the dealer look at it because I hate handing my car over to those people unless I have to.

Anyone?

Thanks so much

it might be your brakes, go out and try this. Drive the car forward a few feet slowly and brake to a stop(do you hear it?) then put it into reverse and back up a few feet slowly then brake to a stop again. If you hear it everytime you change from forward movement to reverse like that then its your brakes....mazda 6's and MPV's have a tsb for a clicking sound while doing that.

Try this then post back.

mazda 3's have an electronic assisted power steering, and you can hear it cut on when you start the car to slightly afterward. try driving a jump started mazda 3 after the battery has been dead a while. it's an adventure trying to steer with the power assist going in and out.

i have a somewhat similar problem ... when i am in first gear i hear a noise where it sounds like the clutch plate is rubbing or something and there is strain to the speed and the noise continues even up to 3rd gear at some points i dont know how to explain my situation because i only have 300 miles on it. and like she said once i leave it parked for a while and go back oout it doesnt come back on

I think I have a similar noise. Does it sound like a metallic tap?

Maybe the brake/ABS pump? I haven't heard this noise in my speed3, but my mom's Civic does this every time on the first time you're on the brakes. That car has done that noise for 60K miles so... no issue in that respect.

After you try this, just try driving forward and see if it clicks before you press the brak pedal. Then do the same in reverse, drive in reverse from a dead stop and if you hear the clicking before you press the brake pedal IT IS YOUR WHEEL BEARING on either the left or right side or both you never know. I know because I have this sound right now, clicks forward and in reverse especially when I leave my parking space. Car is at the dealer as we speak swapping out the bearing.

good luck.

Is it the throttle opening and closing. Pop the hood and have some one rev it really quick you will hear it...
