So I was trying to clean my hands with some Purell, and when I opened the bottle it shot out some of the gel substance out at the instrument gauge cluster of my 2010 CX-9 GT. Specifically one nice round impact near the top of the speedometer (near 80mph marker). It immediately fogged up at the area of contact and my attempts to wipe off just worked for a second since it would just fog up again.
I tried using fingernails and made slight progress in making lines in whatever residue was on the surface of the clear plastic gauge cover. I'm guessing the Purell chemical reacted in some way with the plastic cover's material.
Any suggestions on what I can do to clean this up? I'm just afraid of using chemicals that might be too harsh for the plastic and damage it. Would Goo Gone work? Searching online, I found links to Plastix which is good for detailing this area. Any help would be appreciated since its really annoying, though doesn't completely obstruct the top area of the speedometer anymore thanks to my "scratch off" efforts. Thanks in advance everyone.
