classic V8s

IMO the 1980/81 Camaro Z/28s rate as classics, they have the looks of the older cars. It's going to be awhile before any 3rd gen F bodies can be thought of as true classics though.
there just wasn't anything that great about the 3rd gens... it's so rare to even find a nice one these days. i think eventually a nice one will be considered a classic car, but i really don't see it as a classic muscle car. it just lacks all the muscle to me...at least in general. there are exceptions of course.

I love 69 Camaro's. There is actually a company out there that is going to be making repop bodies out of steel soon. It was mentioned in an article about a month ago in HotRod on the state of classic cars collecting and prices today.

Not his, pretty close though, his was that creamy off white that the gto's came in.
a ******* men i love the goats my fav american muscle and yes a car have to late 70s or earlier to be considered classic.

yeah, goats are teh w1n.

We're cooking up a "goat nomad" idea right now, seems pretty simple, 65 el camino, graft 65 tempest wagon rear onto bed section, keep elcamino b pillar. Slap on gto front, drop in something sick, like the drive train from the new gto. ls1's mmmm...

rediculous amount of body work though.

an understatment but would be sick and nothing new age a nice stroker motor pushing out 700hp and a 5 speed floorshifter. that would be hot! i think a nomad with a gto front end would be a sick ass car...

nah, new age is good hah.

we will probably never do it, i think hes going to pick up a gen 1 viper when he hits the retirement fund in 2 years.

I remember well when the 1982 3rd gen F bodies came along. There was a yellow 1979-81 shape Trans Am with red body decals parked in our apartment parking lot at the time and looking at that car, last of the 2nd gens, and looking at the first of the 3rd gens I knew there was no going back.
The 3rd gens were stylish and modern, but to my thinking they were very bland. Of course this was after the fuel crisis and people wanted lighter, smaller, aerodynamic cars so the 3rd gen was the right sort of car for the times, but, things were never the same again for F body fans, especially given ALL the F bodies (Firebird & Camaro would only have Chevy V8s, with the exception of the 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am)
Yeah, things were never the same once GM canned the big 2nd gens. On the plus side I did like TV's Knightrider.
