Civic Type R

Even tho Top Gear is funny, they still have the facts. Torsion beam is full of fail.
sometimes, like in the telsa review, they make stuff up completely. I wouldn't take anything they say as fact before a secondary source is located most of the time.

hate on hondas all you want, but they are a pretty innovative company. vtec, is a pretty cool function, and now pretty much everyone has a version of it.

also, the f20 in the s2k has the most hp per liter from the factory for a non turbo car since it was produced.

also.

vtec just kicked in! YO!

This CTR (FF2) is made by Honda UK. Japanese CTR (FD2) looks a little different, and resembles more of the civic in the states

fairly easy to say sure, but there are plenty of engines that make far more use of their HP and produce nearly the HP/L of the F20. When does the F20 power band start exactly and how much TQ is it making at say 4,500rpm? kthxbie.

Ricers made Variable valve timming cool for sure.. but the first use of it was by Alfa Romeo, then Nissan came out with NVCS VVT in the VG30DET in the 300zx and *then* in 1989 Honda came out with Vtec. So you have Nissan and Alfa Romeo to thank, not Honda. Also, pretty much everyone's VVT doesn't adjust both valve lift *and* ignition timing like Honda's does (mostly because at that many RPM's it's not helping a lot) so really, only a few engines are like Vtec. My APB V6TT only has intake lift VVT for example.

Yea I was taking an s2k for a "spirited" drive once, but I just gave up once I realized I had to rev it all the way out to make good power while also making an ass out of myself to the other people on the road. Not to mention it sounds like ass whether it has stock exhaust or aftermarket.

yeah, the couple of S2000's I've been in are pretty much all the same as you described. Good on paper in the right way.. but then it all goes to cra*

There's a reason why that thing is not sold here in the states, it's ugly beyond belief...makes the 2010 ms3 look good!
