Chroming Stock Rims?

Hey all, my friend has a Nissan Titan and was telling me about how Nissan said they could chrome his wheels for some money. Anyone know if Mazda does a similar thing? If not, is there a way to get the stock rims chrome?

Thanks.

I recently dropped off one of my wheels(non chrome) to be repaired at a shop in MA and asked about chrome dipping for a friend. They told me the only state that has a license to do chrome dipping is Cali. They have a specific company they deal with there, so I would imagine any wheel repair shop near you should be able to do the same. It just depends on how much $$$ you wanna spend.

I have no idea of any wheel shops near me. Any way I could search with my zip code somewhere or something? (My zip code is 22066 in Great Falls, VA if it matters)

Do a google search for wheel repair with your states name and see what comes up.

I had a set of Elite Vipers chromed for my 323 GTX about 10 years ago. The company I bought them from shipped them out to California to be chromed, then they came from there to me. So, there may be some truth in that. I paid about $100 per wheel back then. Dunno how much it costs now.

Hmm...instead of chroming, which I can see is expensive, is painting the rims with the Duplicolor paint an easy process if you dont paint things at all?

Easy? Yes.

Worth the effort? Probably not.

If you want to go that route find a good powder coater in your area and have him or her do it.

Mine look chrome but only weigh 19lbs. I don't know or have a clue how much weight it would add.

theres a place here in houston that does chrome wheels and what ever else metal you want they told me $700 for a set of stockers. i just went with some 18" hp design wheels...

I had a wheel repaired and dipped. Wheels America in Miami, 5 month turn around. $100 for repair, extra $200 for chrome.

They had to ship to Cali too, so I also believe the chroming license BS.

Alright well Im not looking to spend near as much as that. I think Im just gonna go with the Duplicolor route since its cheap and those who used it say its durable.

Why do you say that goldwing? Are you saying it doesnt look good? I wanted to paint them gunmetal.

I'm saying that duplicolor would end up chipping and looking like crap. For all the time and effort you would have to spend on surface prep, you could have them powder coated.
