chicagoland Mazda Dealer?

Rosen Mazda - either location in Lake Villa or Waukegan. The parts department is bar none - EXCELLENT - and the service manager in Lake Villa knows his stuff.

biggers in elgin will get u a great deal. ask for andy higgins. he'll hook u up...

Wilkin's Mazda Experience

i thought i'd share some recent experiences (both good and bad)i've had with Wilkin's mazda...

first the good - i was bored one day so i went in and asked to take a MSP for a test drive. i was honest with the salesperson and told him i would likely not buy one at Wilkins (i'm only living in chicago for a few months - my home is in waterloo, ontario). he didn't give me any grief, and i got to flog the hell out of a MSP for a little while.

now the not so good - i needed to get a routine minor maintenance done down here on my P5 (fluids, filters, etc., and a tire rotation). when i called to book a service, i told the guy i needed my routine 32,000km (however many mile) service done. so, he decides to try and tack on some unecessary brake work which doubled the cost of my service.

i had to cancel that appointment for some reason, so when i called (and spoke to a different person) the second time, i explained my situation again. this time, however, the f*cker tries to include an ENGINE FLUSH and some other crap in my minor service! i couldn't believe it!! needless to say, i got only the work that i wanted done and paid a reasonable $40 for it.

all i could think of while i was waiting for my car was how much money they could rip people off for by deceiving them like that.

anyways....i just thought i'd share that.

yup....I usually go to Midas or other car care center for those issues.
I hate getting craps from dealer and overcharged prices (outie)

it just astounds me that they can get away with it. there were a bunch of old ladies there waiting for their cars, who i'm sure wouldn't know that they didn't need an engine flush done. crazy!

i guess it's a pretty good way to make money though...

My friend got new altima and he went to dealer for oil change but he was charged over $80... what else do you need to service for brand new car? except of oil changes...

i guess it helps to know a little bit about your car....and ask what the work's gonna cost before you get the work done.

It amazes me how many people don't read the little maintenance manual. All you have to do is look inside and see that 'oh, I don't need my radiator flushed until 70,000 miles...' So when you have 25K and the guy says you need it, tell him he should know his own cars better.

Oh well, they aren't called Stealerships for nothing...

Thanks for the heads up about Wilkins. I would hope they wouldn't try that with me, since I'm over there about once a week at their parts department... Anyway, I only use dealers for warranty work. I don't keep cars long enough to need them for anything else.

Very true. If they can get you to pay for putting air in the tires they will...

I had an awesome guy at Pugi Mazda, his name was Rick, really nice not to pushy, and they all worked there asses off to get me approved and the finance manager was really funny and nice.

But you couldn't pay me to take my car back there to be serviced. I dropped it off to have some minor things looked at and after leaving it there over night I now have about $6000.00 dollars worth of damage to a 2 week old car that I haven't even made the first payment on.

I will say though there being extremely nice and taking care of it and I'm not to terrible mad, I have to say they know there stuff, but if they ever ask me to leave my car over night again I'm going to laugh in there face multiple times over.

What in the hell happened?

Car was broken into, entire dash pad chewed up, window broken, radio and radar detector stolen, front grill torn apart, front bumper gouged, hoof scratched badly, scratches on door, brake and trans fluid all over front bumper, and thats not including what the car was takin in for.

Ouch. Atleast they are taking care of it, and not pulling the "we are not responsible" bit. That's why I always request that my car be locked inside if it requires an overnighter @ the stealership... Good luck.
