Anyone know stuff about a parking ticket in Chicago. I just got one today and it is for the stupidest thing ever and I am going to appeal it. I was interning with the neurosurgery residents at Rush University today. I had to be there by about 5am, so I parked my car around 445 am. I decided to park on a side street, just because I knew I would be the whole day and being a poor student could not affoard the $15+ the parking garage wants to charge for parking. I have parked here in the past when I have visited before. I actually parked between two cars that were there before I arrived. As I came back to my car around 600 pm, I noticed I had a ticket on my window charging my $50 for parking during "street cleaning/special event". I then looked around and there was a small sign posted on a street light a distance from my car, that I know was not there when I arrived at 445 am. It said no parking from 9am-3pm. So I am guessing that someone put the sign up aftern I arrived assuming that I knew, but I did not. I am going to fight this, but I knew the City of Chicago can be rough to win against. I still don't plan to pay the $50 for this stupid ticket, so if I loose I will just skip paying for it. I am just curious what is the worse thing that can happen to me. I live in the suburbs and rarely go into Chicago. I also am at school in Michigan for 10 months out of the year and will be heading to Cali to live early next summer. So there won't be any real chances for them to boot my car in Chicago. Can I still get screwed over by the State Police or local if something ever happend?? Thanks in advance.
