Lately, my P5 engine light has come on. What triggered the engine light was that my P5 would from time to time lose power when I am cruising. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? Could it be the converters? (confused)

it is probably the egr valve that needs to be replace or cleaned,or the coil packs that are leaving....every proteges have thoses two problems...

Take it to Autozone and have it scanned. I forget the code but sounds like a misfire, either cylinder 2 or random. If this is the case do a search and let us know. It is common but inexpensive to fix.

And welcome to the site! (thumb)

it could be your converters, pray they are not. OBDII systems are very expensive. Just replaced mine, I went with a rebuild kit cost me $495 through mineke, new ones go for over $700. I am talking about the front cat on the down pipe, the rear is a bit less.

you could have just gotten a header that deletes it for half that...
Ive seen people on the forums here sell the stock exhaust manifold and downpipe with cat for $50 or so.

wow- I had no idea they went for that much at places like Mineke. Maybe I could sell mine as its just sitting in the attic :D
