go to autozone to check the scanner, maybe is the O2 sensor or the catalyzer.

That's not to mention they'll pull the codes for free.

Check to be sure your gas cap is tight while you're at it.

i went to Autozone today and they give me the code P0442 and they said is the oil cap problem and something else but i forgot what he said....mostly is the oil cap problem if something else, what can it be? if really oil cap problem should i just go and buy another one and replace it?

They were wrong:
P0442 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected

Make sure that your gascap is on tight (turn it until it clicks) and reset the ECU. Also, don't fill the tank with the car running. If you get the CEL again, then come back here and someone who knows more than me will help you out.

To reset your ecu, disconnect the neg battery terminal and step on the brake pedal for something like five seconds to drain the residual charge. Then hook the battery back up.

This forum is great, I love how soo many people actually are knowledgeable!

I am curious if I could find a list of all the codes and what they mean for whenever I have any CEL problems.

For for the thread jacking.

lol, who would ever do this? Also, refrain from smoking, or setting off fire works while fueling your gas tank.

Quoted from here:

Causes

A code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
  • Other small leak in EVAP system
  • Faulty vent o-ring seal
Possible Solutions

With a P0442, the most common repair is to:

  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses
