Check Engine Light is back!!!!

Mine just came on for the second time this morning. Both times it has come on the weather is raining and cold (cold for Texas anyway).
It may be a sensor which is climate sensitive. Im not a car nut but thats my guess.

I have to say, the FIRST time my CEL=purge valve was in late August - only 100miles after ownership. The SECOND time (just last week) was rainy and damp.

I wonder if it is the gas cap.... I am having another purge valve replaced - they say it is STICKING open???

so it came on again yesterday morning, there was frost on the car- cold again and it went off in the afternoon when it warmed up. i dropped it off at a dealer this morning but with no light right now i dont expect much from them except maybe an excuse as to why they cant fix it or the gas cap theory.

they re-adjusted the mounting holes for the IMRC solenoid
Anyone know what IMRC means and what it does.

I have an RX-8 and you think CEL's are bad?

I have had my engine replaced and my car still isn't right yet.

I have been looking at a MS3 or a MS6

Well my Speed is at the dealers and will be fixed tomorrow finally. I hope everything goes smoothly. I also told them to check my engine mounts and tranny bolt just to be on the safe side. Oh and I got a 2007 Saturn ION Automatic with 4100miles on it for a loaner car. I'm thinkin on trading or selling my speed 3 for one of these bad boys! hahaha

Well lets add one more CEL to the list. I have 3800 miles and my light came on. I have am getting it looked at on Monday. I am reaching here but I got ask. I changed my sidemarkers the other day to LED's and had to reverse the stock plug wires to get them to work, could this have caused any problem. I am thinking about switching them back to see if it goes out but with what I have been reading the lights are so intermitent. Mine has already went out one day and came back on the next morning. I just don't want the dealer to try telling me its the lights.

Uh, no.

Hey all, I have a MS3 GT with 2300 miles on it and I just saw the CEL for the first time. Quite annoying. This doesn't seem like an uncommon problem. I will let you know when they attempt to tell me the problem on Thursday. I hope this is not a sign of things to come with this car.

My dealer FINALLY got the part in early last week. The first attempt to fix is always to redrill the holes and mount the valve differently or something. That didn't do jack for the problem, although it really pissed me off.

Since the part replacement (vacuum *mumble* *mumble* valve *mumble*), I have low end torque again (it had really faded away with the CEL on) and no CEL since, regardless of cold weather, which is exactly what would guarantee the CEL popping on if I had had the good fortune of having it turn off the day before.

Was the CEL code P2006, and is this a newly designed part, or was the dealer just waiting for a regular part? I've had a few P2006's and want to make sure dealer knows what's involved before making the trip there....

I don't know what the code was, but the part they changed was a new improved version of what they replaced.

dammit, i guess I can add my name to the list of people with cel's

threw the code this morning after driving around for a while, hopefully will get it checked out tomorrow at mazda

I had the same problem with my chekc engine light. I got scared that something happened to my tranny because it went on immediately after I raced someone. I thought, oh s*** did I **** it up or what? I just brought it in to this guy I know that runs a local shop and he said nothing was wrong, it just needed a reset.

well I am assuming it is that purge valve that people have been getting replaced when they throw a code, either that or it is nothing because the car is running perfectly fine.

also, shouldn't a CEL be covered under warranty for a car this new? THey are telling me tehre is a $85 diagnostic charge. This is TOTAL BS! I will be extremely pissed at mazda if this is the way they handle their customers. Waiting for the service manager to call me back....

It's under warranty. It's free. Go rap the person you talked to at the dealership on the head.

As for the guy before you....haha check ENGINE light. Not check TRANSMISSION light. You could probably grenade your differential and your engine would be as happy as a clam.

These were my exact words on the phone, perhaps he didnt like my attitude at 8AM on monday morning, but f that, im not paying a dime, especially $85 for a 2 second test

I've been in twice. I also got a free oil change for my trouble. (I still have my first free oil change card!)
If I have to go in again after my sensor gets replaced, I'm gonna hit them up for another oil change. I will also push for a loaner car if I have to leave mine. It's amazing how fast your car will be finished when you have one of theirs. :)

haha sweet, not a bad idea... id much prefer it to be a simple fix that i never have to deal with again tho.

and b1gham: no sense deleting your post, i can see it anyway :) mod status ftw lol - anyway, thanks for the reassurance, i figured whoever i talked to was just either an idiot or new
