cheapest CAI(mazdaspeed)

Whitey hit it right on. The oil on the filter is going to end on the MAF which is going to corrupt the air flow data. Worse yet is that the oil is going to end up in the turbo which is no good at all.
Anything on the filter on a boosted car is going to end up in the intake tract, there is far more vacuum there than you probably imagine. At even low throttle angles under boost it's enough to pull your hand into the piping.
Also, the Mazdaspeed intake come with a cleaning kit.

I considered the Injen but on a car with less than 1000 miles I wasn't taking the chance that if for some reason I broke down on a trip, some shop in Florida or Arizona was going to screw me on it.

tiffany is the best for the intake..i duno what else she sells but shes the s***(headbang)...girl knows how to get paid

I have to say Tiffany is the MAN!, lol.

Has anyone talked to her on the phone, she can sell anything with that sexy voice. I almost bought 3 CAI's from her but then realized I had only one car, lol.

Yeah I talked to Tiffany today. Unfortunately the MS CAI is on national backorder until JUly. But she managed to get a few CAI's from other sources. So I am next in line.

FYI for you since it looks like you need it.

The filter on the MS CAI is an AEM dry flow synthetic filter. The shiled isnt for going in puddles it covers the top half of the filter to prevent water coming from up top falling down below.

Thats cool you saved a few bucks and got something that you say is better but honestly the quality of both isnt in question. The question is if its worth the price difference and most seem to think it is not and I agree.

Be happy with your oiled filter and let us know when you get your first CEL on the MAF and what your dealer says. When you put a CAI on a turbo or supercharged car there is a s*** load more suction moving through that filter. It sounds sweet but when you hear the suction you will understand why an oiled filter isnt the best choice for this car.

Good luck and lets us know how it goes.

LOL wow Im done with the pissing match, all I have to say is your too damn proud to even know what your talking about. Ive had a GREASED up K&N panel filter since it came out with NO problems what so ever, and theres COUNTLESS cars with MAF running K&N filters on their intake with the same results. The only time Ive ever heard of someone having a MAF Cel from a filter is if they just cleaned it and put too much oil on, probably something you would do ;) Have fun driving with your hood off through Hurricanes to utilize your filter sheild! (lick)

Save that $90 and put it toward some college sparky, LOL.

PS what is too much or just the rigth amount of oil on that fitler when it comes time to oil it? You realize that a computer sprayer put that first coat on in a perfect amount right?

PSS yes I have killed a MAF on a supercharged tacoma using a K&N CAI. It does and will happen but I am happy you are happy with your purchase but your claims of it being a better DEAL are false when you consider what you actually have vs the MS CAI. The shiled has nothing to do with what I am talking about here but it seems like you weigh all your argument on that one part.

I would however say I do like that Injen has a one piece pipe and not sure why Mazda went for the 2 piece design if for any one particular reason. My suggestion would be to use that filter that came with your Injen then buy the AEM dryflow when it comes time to clean and oil your filter.

sparky was my nickname when I had my Crx si how did you know that?... Colegee whats that?....ummmm What youve said about the filter is true, oiling it isnt a problem though, and now theyve taken it a step further by adding a dye to the oil to tell if its evenly oiled, but your going to such extremes to make your point valid, and ever think it wasnt the filter that fried your maf? a lot of times over boosting or other variables besides oil will fry a mas, but honestly Im done with this... I paid $210 shipped and thats what this thread is suppose to be about....

Indeed, voiceKoil. After paying for my Injen this weekend, i did'nt hear anything back, i called and they said they were sending them out today (tuesday) and would email me a tracking number. I emailed em the next day after hearing nothing and all i got in response was 'All orders have been shipped out'.

Kinda lame. It's been shipped but I don't know when to expect the intake. I figured a company that you hear about all the time would at least give me keep me up to date.

Did you get a chance to install your intake yet? I got mine yesterday and put it in yesterday. I decided to take the bumper off for future reference, and make it easier to install. In all it took me an hour to do everything, I was suprised how easy the bumper came off and figured it would be as easy as it was to install the intake itself. Sounds great though, and everyone that went for a ride sayes it feels faster. My girlfriend sayes its too loud now, lol, with my Bov and that when I release the right way its really loud, and Im not even recircing.... Im very happy with the quality of everything though. Im curious how you feel about it...

$284 from my Dealer - Hertiage Mazda, Bel Air, MD. $440 (total) installed.

Very neat. Just got my MS3 and I actually went to that dealership looking for some. What area do you live in? I live down near White Marsh Mall off of Philadelphia rd.
