Cheap Horsepower

^^ this is one of the negative side-effects of providing links to similar threads at the bottom of each thread  ^^

Cheap hp:
160F thermostat, gut the exhaust, underdrive pulley, intake: cold air, decent filter.
The idea is to get more cool air in, more air out. Nitrous is fun but every guy I know who's tried it on their daily driver, incl a couple professional mechanics with boroscopes and all to check their engines, ended up with a damaged engine

Come on, we all know that the Protege does not make a ton of horsepower. The only thing that makes them feel quick at all is the fact that they have decent torque compared to the competition. If you want astronomical horsepower, buy a badass factory turbo car or build something with a big block. I bought my Protege knowing full well I'd never pull 300 horses out of her, instead I'd prefer to pull over a 1g on the skidpad. Know your cars strengths and weaknesses and focus on it's strengths. Our cars handle unbelievably well for a fwd. If you can't burn'em on the straights, kill'em in the corners.
thats what the p5 was designed to be..... an awesome handling sporty car(drive)

Carefull on how much air you let escape by gutting cats and putting on straight pipes. You lose torque but gain top end power.
