Chasing the clunk

So Chief and Kojack (did I just say that? lol) You both like the Gas a Just rear struts? I'm in the market for new rears ASAP.
 
I solved the rear clunk by tightening the shock mounting bolts (lower), tighter than you'd think they need. No, I didn't measure torque. It's probably enough to slightly compress the mounting 'box', so don't be shy. That proved to be the solution. I had never touched the shocks when the clunk started at about 57k. Only got around to this after: replacing inboard sway bar bushings; then disconnecting outer bar links temporarily, to rule them out; then replacing upper shock mounts; then reversing the shocks side-to-side; then installing new KYBs, and finally realizing the one I overtorqued was quiet while the one that 'felt right' was the remaining clunk. I've watched the Clunk in this forum for about 14 months since mine started. Sorry to say, the solution was just a little more muscle -- in my case.
