i looked in the how to section and i saw something for the mp3 and i printed it out. is the p5 the same?? also do i have to take the caliper of to change just the pads?? and if i take it off do i need threadlock when putting it back on like the how to suggests

Yeah, the caliper has to come off. It's similar to the Mp3 how-to, just make sure you have something to compress the piston.

you remove the caliper like on any other car to change brakes. the only tricky part is getting the cylinder back in which is always a major pain in the ass. also, don't forget the little metal clips on the fronts. I accidentally put one caliper back on with the metal thing sticking out and had to go back and redo it

Follow that How-to as it is written. The brakes are exactly the same. Thread locking the caliper back on isnt a bad idea at all. I believe it is thread locked stock anyways.

Yeah, the caliper piston compression is easy; On the front, all you do is take a C clamp or, even better, a caliper compressor, and compress the piston back into place. Simple! On the rear, just turn the adjusting socket cap in the back of the piston. Loosen it (counterclockwise), and slide the caliper free after removing the hand brake cable. Then tighten (clockwise) once you have the new rotors and/or pads, so the pad touches the rotor, then back it off one third to one half of a turn (120 - 180 degrees), and reconnect your hand brake. =) Done! Easy!

thanks a lot guys, i just took my tires off last night to see what it looked like and it didnt look hard at all. i just gotta pick up some threadlock today and im gonna get them done today or tomorrow

If you have a caliper compressor you don't need to take the caliper off. Just unscrew the hex bolt and flip the caliper. If you use a c-clamp you do have to take it off. Also open the cap on the brake fluid reservoir and the cylinder will compress easier.
