Hey all, whats the dilly.
Just curious if its difficult to change the spark plugs and wires for an '02 P5?
I took off the wires and peeked in there and those plugs look pretty deep in there....is that a problem or is it pretty easy? Just wondering if this is a thing I should pay a shop to do or myself if I can handle it. I can get all the tools, no problem and I want to change over to a perform. plug and do away with the stock guys that are in there now. Any suggestions on plugs and wires? I have seen a few people on here have Sparco wires, but I dont know much about them and wanted to get some input.
Thanks.....'preciate it

ez fo sheezy.

you just need a spark plug socket and a double extention (6 inches)

a torque wench, some anti seize, and some dielectric grease are recommended but not absolutly necessary.

They are pretty deep, but an extension is no problem. I actually used some tubing to put the new plugs in. 1/8 ID, just stick the plug in it and screw it in. The plug will slip in the tubing before cross-threading if you are worried about doing that with an extension. Of course torque them to spec after you know they are not cross-threading.

don't need a torque wrench... turn until tight, then turn 1/4 turn more.

that's all... very easy :)

my piece of s*** wires broke when i changed them. not the wire.. BUT the thing that goes into the hole.. cost 40 bux to get a new one from mazda. piece of ******* s***.

...just don't bother getting teh 'aftermarket' super/duper ones. Not worth the extra $ (IMHO) (grin)
