Change dash lighting

I would really like to have the freedom to change the dash lighting. I took out the instrument cluster and cracked it open to take a look inside, and it looks like any changes would have to involve soldering. That would probably also mean recalculating the resistors and soldering some of those in, too. I don't exactly have the knowledge of how to do this, but I think I could figure it out with a little help. Before I go off pioneering this, though, I figured I'd check to see if anyone else has done this. If so, a write-up would be excellent!
