2008 Mazda CX-9 GT w/ Everything
Okay, I just bought a used (21k miles) 2008 CX-9 GT a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It replaced my 2001 protege after a wreck and we've had 2 other mazdas before. My question for the forum, after searching all the threads on the subject is this:

How do I get my iPhone to integrate with my Bose system with the NAV, no SAT module, with the Aux port in my console so that it will provide full centerpoint functionality? Is this even possible?

From what I've seen, the factory integration kit a) does not work with the iphone b) does not work with the Nav. Also, the two aftermarket solutions from Dice and Audiolink (changed names now) do not work with the NAV.

When I plug the iphone into the Aux port in the center console, I get decent quality, but it does not support centerpoint (Dolby 5.1) and definitely sounds inferior to the DVD or CD (forget about AAC/mp3 vs CD, this has nothing to do with audio format or encoding). To make matters worse, when I charge the iphone using a car charging cable (USB to the cigarette jack in the console) I get an awful feedback through the audio. I have tried this with 2 different brands of iphone cable, both the console and the front dash charger and I even tried it with a high end audio cable.

At this point, I don't even care whether I can use the dash or steering wheel controls to change songs on the ipod. I just want the best sound quality possible from my iPhone to my Bose Centerpoint system (all 11 speakers worth) while charging the phone with no feedback. Is that too much to ask. I'm just about to break down to ripping my playlists to mp3 CDs to put in the 6 disc changer. It's been about 10 years since I had to do that.

Thanks,
Perry

Modification of post - emphasize feedback

I think I put the wrong emphasis in my original post on the use of Centerpoint when I should have emphasized that I'm just looking for the best way to integrate an iphone in a 2008 CX-9 GT with Nav. The Bose system sounds great even without Centerpoint (although I still wonder if that center speaker on my front dash is working without it). I just can't seem to get my iPhone to work without a background fuzz when I plug it into the aux port and charge it with cable.

I would actually prefer to navigate my playlists on the iphone itself since the iphone navigation blows away even the 2010 controls in the car.

Are you connecting the audio cable to the headphone jack on your iPhone?

The appropriate way to connect the iPhone to the aux input is using the iPhone's line out capability which is only available using an adapter that connects to the 30-pin dock connector. You can even find adapters that provide both Line Out and USB so you can get sound and charge at the same time.

You can also connect using Bluetooth audio streaming (which lets you control iPhone from the Nav display screen) but sound quality is definitely inferior to Line Out.

Connect the charger to the outlet in the dash under the radio instead of the charger in the center console and the sound will be gone or be very minimal if any. This issue is well known by Mazda and that is their answer to the noise problem. Kinda half-a$$ed repair but it works.

Dude, No fancy gadgets or wiring required. This is the only think you need...

Buzzing/Fuzzing/Humming problem solved!

I believe that Centre Point only works for CD's...check the manual

Centerpoint works with the iPod integration module. Mine didn't work the day I bought it...Centerpoint was grayed out on the Navi screen. But as soon as they installed the iPod module and I plugged in my iPhone 3G to the dock connector....wow. The sound went from "ok" to "WOW." Makes a world of difference.
