p2187 code lean out at idle. i checked all my parameters and they all appear normal. my a/f is dead on, my psi is dead on at WOT and idle, i cant figure it out. ill recheck all my clamps and s*** but eveytime i do they arent really loose. i dont get it. maybe it will be alright with the new v103 stage 2 map? i need to get a fuel pump and run the new map because now im on stock so would that cause it maybe? i mean....without anything really being shown? idk. im sick of clearing the code. every like....3 days.

If you are throwing a lean at idle code it means your long term fuel trims are off by more than 20%, which also means that your intake is throwing off your fuel trims or you have a leak somewhere. Your a/f would be normal because your ecu is compensating for the problem by adjusting the fuel trims.

so im assuming getting my fuel pump (if there is no leak) and adjusting to the stage 2 map should correct my problem? hopefully?

ROFL - No, your intake is the issue not your Fuel Pump. Why does eveyone always jump on the FP bandwagon.

If you don't have a leak, then your Intake is the issue. If it is a MS CAI, then get an Air Straightener as it might help. Find someone with a DashHawk that will let you borrow it for a bit and datalog what your LTFT are doing. If you have a AP like your comment indicates, you can datalog your LTFT's using it. You want to be as close to zero as you can get but +/- 8 is fine according to Cobb.

i know it is all well. my ltft's arent the problem. i cant figure it out. i have in my car what your sig states MSCAI (SRI mode). its all hanging on fine and dandy. i didnt get the air straightener and was sick of the CEL's befor ei got the AP a while back so i short rammed it. im just figuring since the only thing that hasne tbeen adjusted was the fp and using the appropriate map for my mods that it may go away with those changes. idk. just a thought for myself. thinking out loud and awaiting an "i second that". unless im incorrect. idk....ill run a data log again for my ltft's and see what i come up with. that was the second thing i checked after the clamps. ill post back hopefully tonight or tomorrow morn with some data.

finally after 200 miles of watching my ltft's it hit above a 20%. it wouldnt go above 12% and i know that wouldnt throw a code but alas! so what now....get a tune i suppose so cobb's v103 stage 2 map will put my ltft's back to around 0 again.

spend the 9 bucks and get the air straightener. I am assuming that you are already running the AP tune that was tuned for the MS CAI. The issue is that it was tuned using a full length MS CAI with air straightener and you running it completely different. Try putting it back to full length and get the air straightener and see if your problem goes away

im still on the stock tune because the stage 2 puts me in fuel cut territory. so im waiting on my finances to allow me to buy some internals so i can upgrade my fp. when its all set ill be running the stage 2 sri map because they didnt have a stage 2 MSCAI map with 93 octane. thats why i continued running the sri (MSCAI). i guess until then ill have to wait and clear the code whenever it annoys me enough to clear it.

running the mscai as an sri and using the tune for an sri shouldnt have any problems correct? i mean....1 sri is almost identicle to another with minor changes. unless it has to do with the positioning of the maf or something but im pretty sure its all around the same.

I tried that once and the air metering was... very bad. The fuel trims were all over the place (because of the short intake tube with no air straightener).

Also, is the crankcase vent tube (from the valve cover to the intake) connected correctly?

ye its connected correctly. so run the strightner even with the msci convrted into short ram. so your vlues were off becuse of the no straightner or becuse of the actual conversion to sri?

probably both.first, the original ms cai had an issue with turbulent air and needed to be rectified with an air straightener. secondly, the ms cai was designed to be just that, a cai not an sri. just because you can convert it doesn't mean you should and you certainly can't expect reliable results when doing so.

well like i said before in this thread, wouldnt changing the cai into a sri have no real difference from 1 sri to another?

ok let me put out what i mean to say straight forward so we can get opinions and answers please.

mscai, airstraightener, stock map (because they dont have a preset map for mscai stage 2 93 octane)

mscai (converted into sri) with airstraightener, sri stage 2 93 octane map.

which one would be the better option. i dont want to be running the cai with an incorrect map so converting it into an sri wouldnt have a problematic outcome is i was to run an sri map with a converted mscai......

ideas..... thank guys

I run the MS CAI in SRi Mode with Air Straightener. My LTFT are 0.0 when WOT, 0.8 when cruise and -0.8 when giving it a bit of gas but not WOT and 1.2 when Idle. I run the 103 CA SRI 91OCT FMIC Stage 2 Map myself.

you never hit fuel cut? i run the v103 CA sri 93 octane stage 2 and cant do a thing until i get fp or internals.

The ms cai with air straightener is sri mode is completely different from the cobb sri. Your boost targets will be off and your fuel trims will be off as well.
