CEL and TC light staying lit

I was installing an amp (just wiring, no amp yet) and when I turned the car on to go get some parts I had a CEL and traction control light on. I drove it a few hours before that with no problems. No boost, no power, idles bad, gas mileage sucks. Took it to autozone and got "Zone" MAF "High Intake of Air" 0135...something like that.

Any idea why this would have happened? I think I'm just a little freaked out because it happened as I was instaling some amp wires and stuff, but I don't see how they could be related. Weird coincidence I guess. Anyone have this and get any problems from the dealer? I installed it myself (yes...correctly been working fine for over a month now) and don't want to get grief from them or something. Really glad I ended going up withe MS CAI right now as opposed to CPE or Injen, lol.

you probably tweaked something when you were playing around the battery if you are throwing a maf code check and recheck the wiring around the maf plug and if its like a n/a 3 its attached to the battery box you may have hit something or tweaked something?? i dunno man but that is deffinatly not normal.

You know that harness you took off to get to the firewall? You forgot to plug it back in or you didnt plug it in all the way.

Go check that.

:)

thanks for the replys guys, I am going back and forth and checking wires and stuff. Everything in the engine bay seems good. disconnected the amp power cable and reset ecu for good measure...no luck.

Nutari: harness behind the glove box? All I did was poke a hole in the rubber grommet and ran a wire thru..I'm gonna go take a look anyways.

Update: MAF went bad...no questions asked, getting replaced. Sucks having it in the shop for 2 days though :( Mitsubishi Galant = no zoom zoom

No, the harness behind the battery tray.

Weird, I was getting all those same symptoms after I did my audio install. I removed the battery tray and the large wire harness behind it and ran my wires behind the heat shielding to the large grommet on the passenger side.

I forgot to plug that large harness back in.

ooooh, is your car an auto? apparently there is a place to run wires behind the battery on autos, but not on manuals cars (blocked by clutch or something). Regardless, just glad to be getting it back without any hassle. Still not quite sure how it happened, probably a weird coincidence.

.... There is no such thing as a MS3 automatic.

I can take pictures if you want.

Did you remove the battery at all during your audio install?

I thought you might have had an NA 3. I did not remove the battery at all. Yes I would be interested in pics though. With my current setup the wire is running right alongside the heatshield by the turbo and I'm afraid of it getting really hot. Thanks!

and yes, i checked all wires/connections and stuff
