CarLoft - balcony parking at its best!

-AutoBlog

One thing I absolutely abhor about apartment living is the long walk from my car to my apartment door. CarLoft is my solution. Imagine an entire apartment complex built around the concept of parking your car on your balcony and you have the basic idea.

A CarLift elevator takes you and your auto for a ride up to the penthouse (or less expensive lofts on lower floors) where you pull forward into the CarLoggia. A glass wall separates your elevated garage from your living quarters yet still allows for friends and family to appreciate your wheels.

Plans are underway to have CarLoft living spaces built in such European cities as Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg, among others. The lofts, which range in size from 2,411 sq ft to 5,802 sq ft, start at EUR 450,600 ($536,844 US).

Wish i had the cash....

lol, visit your upstairs neighbor, hop into your car. But what if the place catches on fire? eek?!!?

id back it in, pop tail gate and have a 48" swing out screen. My car sytem is 100% better than home anyways.
This would be a (bonus) for grocerys.Fire -the people would be in trouble, no stairs. As far as car, you would need to go down with the ship.;)

neat stuff, I can imagine the rent cost. Car would be safer from theives, you could even wash and wax it there.

Surprised that haven't tried just using two spiral type ramps going up the building. 1 for going up to your apartment, another for going down. You simply pull off the ramp into your floor, park in front of your room and so on.

Ummm am i the only one that thinks its a bad idea?? Unless u have very few tentants, u'd be waiting forever for this thing. We have 3 eleavtors at work and 5 floors tall. My average wait time 3-4 times.... WTF.

Yeah, bad idea. The spiraling ramps seems like a much better idea. Unless you had a private elevator for your car, then it seems like a waste of time.

Also

1. what happens when the elevator breaks? How do u get your car out then?
2. How do u idiot proof the thing such that if someone left the car netural with no handbrake. Causing it roll back and fall on a car with a driver inside 3 stories down.
3. How do u prevent the elevator from moving while a car is 1/2 way on it?
3a. If you have a senser that tells you the car is still on the lift and it can't move, how do u prevent someone from just parking their car on the lift and stopping the whole thing.
3b. How do u prevent something such as people not pulling foward enough or trying to fit 2 cars in the space of 1 and 1/4 of the car is still on the lift while no wheels are on the lift... else its bye bye trunk.

not a good idea at all..
