Carlisle CANCELLED!! WTF

ha looks like they had fun... but got too rowdy. One part of the article said naked girls were running through hotels and motels. If those are ricer shenanigans I am going out and putting altezza on my car now so I can join in. Don't worry they will be promptly removed once I have had my fun.

Long live Nopi. Kinda funny cause I started giving out beads like 2 years ago and filming it all. Long live NOPI!!!!!!!

Dammit, Ohhh well I hate driving on the pa turnpike. NOPI NOPI NOIPI, and I like the beads Idea. Now that I am single, unlike last year, Im stocking up on the colorful (boobs) popper outers. :D

Only thing Im gonna say is that it shouldnt be Carlsile's faught for that, the hotel let them stay there. Christ, they didnt even sell beer at the fair grounds!!!!!!!

This is complete bulls***!!! Yea, they issued 178 traffic violations, but what they did not mention was the fact that most of them were for stupid ******* PA laws that either did not apply to the out of state person they were writing up, or the person was not breaking the law at all. My buddy got pulled over for illegal tail lights and the cop that pulled him over was writing up someone else and as my buddy was approaching, he turned to him and pointed him to the side of the road, he never even got to see the back of the car yet. Just picked him out of a huge line of traffic and then made up the violation as he walked towards the car. His ******* tails were not even illegal, they were D.O.T. approved and had reflectors and everything, the cop said he did not care. He does not plan on paying the ticket ($104). I do agree that the partying at the hotels gets out of hand, but in my opinion, the cops should have been stationed at the hotels anyway. I mean, having fun is one thing, going overboard is another. I hope they don't actually cancel the show, but NOPI is not the only thing left either. There are tons of smaller import shows such as H.I.N. and Hot Import Daze, etc...

Okay, I'm going to post to this just because I know all about it and I've been a contributor to this board for a while so I figured it's safe.

Custom Compact Nationals as a whole is NOT CANCELLED. It will not be held in Carlisle ever again. Does this surprise you? Don't tell me there wasn't illegal equipment out there...in ANY state! :bs: I walked the whole show. Some of these guys need trailers, bottom line. And you'd think that some of the guys never saw a friggin set of juggies before. Buy a magazine.

Bottom line...it will be somewhere else next year. I just took the position of Event Manager at Carlisle about a month ago so I didn't have a say in what went on this year but I'm already planning next year's show and it will be tight.

NOPI is good but there's no need to sell Carlisle short...we'll be back and better than ever. Take a year off if you can't believe it...maybe it will help some people grow up in the meantime.

Your right, some of the cars where definately not street legal (my buddies tails are legal 100%) and some of the people where way to imature to even be allowed in the gate, but the fact of the matter is, the police in that town have always targeted the compact cars when we come to town. P.A. just has some of the most f'd up vehicle laws and the fact that they try to make more money off of us by writing tickets makes me not care if the show is there next year at all. The car shows are what make that town tick and the fact that they try and rip us off really aggrivates me!! I will still attend the show, but in all honesty, I wish it was in another state all together. Please try and keep us informed with whatever information you can as things develope, it will be interesting to see what happens.

peace

yes mike, do tell us as plans become available, i am definately still down to show!

me too, I support the show.
and I agree, there was definitly some illegal s*** on some cars, the problem with that is well, they chose to put the stuff on their car, that is the chance that they took. Why should carlsile be blamed?

I am not saying there wasn't any illegal crap on any of the cars, but COME ON! I know a bunch of the cops who would just pull over any "show car" walk around it, and give tickets for bulls***. They are just looking for money and could give a s*** less about anyones safety.

And 40,000 people came to this event. Do you really think 13 officers is adequate for such an event? Even after the fact that they brought 14 county officers and 4 state officers, that is still WAY too little. They should've had a cop stationed at every motel. I know my motel was ridiculous, and the response time SUCKED.

If you are going to invite 16-24 year olds (and you KNOW that 90% of the attendees fit this catergory), then BEEF UP THE SECURITY. The security on the showfield was pathetic. I witnessed a fight, and it took about 30 seconds for any security guard to come break it up (i caught the whole thing on video too!).

And meanwhile, 10 burnouts were going on all around the field, and NO ONE WAS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. There was one idiot in a Talon near where my car was parked that did a burnout, lost control and nearly smashed into this badass BMW M3!!

And i don't want to hear about how "well, since the kids are so young, they aren't bringing as much business into the town since they are all broke". Complete load of crap. I've heard this arguement many times. Why wouldn't we have money? We have cars that have over 50k invested in them in many cases, and I know a bunch of the vendors who were running out of stuff to sell by Sunday.

If you ask me.....cancelling the show is a huge loss for carlisle. All they need is more police, and they will have a decent car show.

They just do what other places like this do when a big event comes to town - deputize police from other jurisdictions.
Bring in police from Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg, Hershey and Chambersburg.
How do you think Woodstock worked? (or didn't)

Yeah, I saw a few that very nearly ended the days of a few pedestrians as well.
Ever been to the "All-Chrysler Nationals" at Carlisle?
Gobs of greasy red-neck white trash doing burnouts up and down the showfield.
Then they cruise the 11 and do more burnouts.

Well, the fact is, most of those kids spend their last penny on the car and coast into Carlisle on fumes. I won't even go into the vast number that have five-finger discounts on a lot of the stuff on their car.
For every showcar owner that paid to show, there were 2 wanna-bees parked out on the street spectating. I think a good portion of the "incidents" over the weekend were incited by non-participants.
I overheard a handful of vendors on Sunday as the day was drawing to a close complaining that the show was a complete loss for them. I saw an awful lot of vendors loading up their trucks to the roof on the way out.
I know I didn't see a whole lot of people walking around with bumpers or rims on their shoulders like they did at past events.

Oh yeah, almost forgot:

hey! you were at the Mazda Tuning Mag meet at Sherwood High School!

I took a nice walkaround video of your car!!!

You guys and girls all have valid points and I can see your frustration but, until you run one of these events, you have no idea what it takes to get more security and police into the right areas.
We're working on making the show more restricted, more controlled, and in a more controllable area.
I won't say much more about the cops but I know all they did for out of state people is give 5 day correction citations (which they won't follow up on) unless you were clearly violating safety laws and things like that.
It's not about money. It's about people feeling safe. Both the town members and the people at the show. If it takes eliminating the burnout and bikini competitions, I'm all for it. I've seen better of both in my short lifetime anyway. We have them at other shows and don't have the problems, though.
I think what we all need to do is come up with a plan on how to control the event. Not just saying "more security, more cops, less asshole cops, etc."
I appreciate everybody coming out and I'm sure that with your help and the help of all the other clubs/forums, we'll be able to make something really sick work out for next year.
I'll keep you posted.

Mike

Well, there isn't a doubt in my mind that the event needs more security. Thats just a given.

But eliminating the bikini contest and burnout contest sounds like a good idea! People were so loud during the bikini competition, it might as well have been cancelled.

It seemed that the bikini competition = mardi gras, and the burnout competition = fight scenes as well as burnouts throughout the fields.

I realize its more complex than "add more cops", but I think a huge beef people had wasn't the actual event, but the crap that happened afterwards in the motels and streets. I DO think the cops were at fault there. Only 30 or so cops patrolling a town, they KNEW was full of drunken teenage morons? they seriously need 1-2 patrol cars STATIONED at each motel for the whole night. The drunken idiots are pussy's and always seemed to run from the police when they showed up at my motel...so this would most likely work wonders.

As for the vendors not selling stuff... its not completley the attendee's fault. Most of the vendors were identical. "hey lets sell ricer mufflers, headlight bulbs, pedals, altezzas and wire loom!! YEAH WE WON'T HAVE ANY COMPETITION". Too bad almost every vendor sold all of the above. Most sold them for decent prices, but some were out of their minds to expect to get the amount they were asking for some stuff.

Westminster speed and sound sold a crapload of stuff. They had VERY good prices too, which is probably the mian reason why. There was only like 3 audio vendors there, and I personally was looking for a set of speakers and an amp.....not some ricer altezzas and xenon headlights ;).

I can dig your point, gro.

This town just can't handle this event. That's what it all comes down to. Your point about the cops is exactly true. It will be held in the future in a place and in a manner that is totally controlled.

About vendors...I didn't bring that up. Must have been someone else. They must do okay here...they keep coming back. If you want to see really good vendor stuff, come to Spring or Fall Carlisle.

Point taken on bikini and burnout. Wouldn't work if we were inside anyway. Not that we'll be inside next year...but that would be nice.

Later.
