carfax equivalents?

:
2023 CX5 turbo
does anybody know of a free carfax type service or a cheaper than $20 for a carfax report? mostly out of curiosity as I started thinking of maybe replacing my 2023 CX5 turbo with a 2025 CX5 turbo simply because I really like the car and being the 26's are not going to have a turbo may as well have the last edition...I am curious what my carfax would say as I had a bear strike sept of 2023. car was fixed by the highest rated body shop and mazda approve shop..basically the front grill and wrap around facia was replaced as well as the intercooler..no sheet metal was damaged only plastic parts...just wondering how it will read on the carfax and what kind of hit it will cause..the car is clean as new in and out. with under 42,000 miles.

I get carfax for free through my car insurance and through the dealership.

Back in March I paid $45 for one Carfax report. $20 is a great deal! The other service I used was AutoCheck in 2007. They are now charging $30 per report.

I haven't had to sell a car with accident privately but my CX-3 got $9K of repair from a low-speed rear-end collision a year ago. Whatever shows up on the report will definitely be used in price negotiation, that's just how it is. But you can win, with all the information, documentation, and presentation. If someone is drooling over a new car at the dealership and plans to trade-in a slightly older one, the dynamics in that transaction puts the buyer at a disadvantage.

Forgot to mention that you can check with the shop that did all the repair and find out what was reported.

shop reported exactly what they did..they said they are obligated to report exactly what they do.

I don't work at a dealership but that would be a perk no doubt. I never thought about the insurance company but I have a buddy who is an agent and he said they do not have that access from his office.

CarFax has an app where you can add your cars and see some history. Mine shows only two records from indie shops and not the accident. 🙆 Never mind the app only shows service history.

Wanna try this? Bumper.com

options to see full report - 1) either pay the fee or search for sites which offfer carfax for lower. But you gotta provide the vin to them
2) go to a random dealer, initiate tradein offer and ask them to get/show you the carfax. Almost all have discounted carfax access.
3) find someone who can check for free

and my experience with incidents on carfax. They do drop trade in value. even if its minor.
Ballpark at that miles prob. 20-21k is where they would be. Almost always dealer would lowball the tradein.

I was evaluating tradein my 2022 for 2025 and its not worth it really. I would be out of 10-15k more or less just to get same car 2025.

carfax (if it has been reported) shows which side of the car and a category - minor, moderate, etc.
Sometimes not always other details, but i havent seen verbose details like changed bumper, new paint, new sensors, etc.
I can dig some if you interested and show you what shows there.

do you have access to carfax? thanks

At what speed did the impact occur with the bear? The story is more interesting than most auto collision. Hope you get the most out of your 23 no matter what!

I was able to brake hard and ended up scrubbing most of my speed..the bear jumped over a guardrail on a 60mph two lane road apparently headed to the river that was on the other side of the road..the bear did a couple of barrel rolls and then off the other side he went...if you look close you can see bear hair..

Glad that the bear made it. It's a good story for a private party who is interested in a Turbo CX-5. Yes there was an accident but car got new parts. How badly do you want the 25 Turbo? I might pay $1 to run a couple of reports.

$1? have never seen a carfax for $1. as far as how bad it would depend on the difference. My car is paid for and my only real reason is I really like it and I generally go thru cars every couple years and I really have no interest in the 26 without the turbo. the turbo and 6 speed non cv tranny has spoiled me. on the other hand I know my 23 will last many years.

Got it. I am curious what I can get for $1.
