Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser

hard to tell from those pictures what it looks like.

But it somewhat goes against the idea of Carbon fibre itself (weight reduction) when its added to the current bumper.
for this to be purposeful, it would need to replace the whole black bumper trim with a lighter one.

And with the cold winters here, it would probably break when going tru snow... Not for me

your call, still, Id be curious to see better pics

There are many other things I would rather do before this.. such as suspension and exhaust. This is just a wishlist item. lol

Hey this diffuser is the same one I have on my car other than the fact that they now make it using hand laid carbon fiber. You can read about mine here: http://www.thangscarblog.com/garage-vary-valiant-body-kit/

As for carbon fiber cracking during the winter, it shouldn't as long as it's quality made. I have a carbon fiber rear diffuser on my KIA optima and had absolutely no issues with Colorado winters. After two plus years it still looked great.

So what happened with this? Did you end up getting it? I'm curious about it too. I'm a carbon fiber addict as well, but not the vinyl stuff. Got a lip on my other car and it's done well in the weather. Only issue is that it's on a lowered car and my wife and I scratch it up on curbs all the time.

I am interested in many of the pictures posted by Thang, however that website link is not good.. try uploading with imgur (free account no ads)

It's primarily supposed to increase downforce, in the same manner a wing would, with less overall drag than a wing. It also can reduce drag caused by low pressure turbulent air exiting the underside of the car combining into the high pressure air coming off the top off the car (by reducing turbulence of the low pressure flow).

Thanks. Tonight I go to sleep a little smarter. Or is that knowledgeable?(yippy)

That's what a real diffuser will do. This thing is purely just for aesthetics

OK, showing my ignorance. What is a diffuser used for?

For race cars, Chris is right on the money.
For street cars, it's to make it look awesome! Folks like me just can't help ourselves and gotta have stuff like this. Purely looks. Doesn't make the car weigh any less being that carbon fiber is typically a layover an existing body part, fender, pillar, bumper, etc. Stay tuned for my first carbon fiber accessory on my new CX-5, hehe. I can't help myself. Complete addict.

Some folks will think it's nuts to spend that kind of money on stuff like this. Others will pay to cut their stock bumper to accommodate a quad custom exhaust, get, install a custom setup, pay for a carbon fiber diffuser to be shipped over from Thailand and then pay someone else to install it. Errrr, yeah. I admit it. I did that to my current car and loving it.
