Carbon Fiber Hatch

at what price?

Our price would have been $800 + shipping, as stated in the orginal GI thread, and this included the lexan insert.

I'd like to see who is going to offer this for $500 as you say, hell if they do it for that price I'd buy it from them myself.

But you were only talking about getting 10 made. I'm talking in a ball park figure of 50 or more.

50? It's nice that your aiming BIG but I highly doubt you will get that many confirmed buyers. This forum may have 50 interested people but you will get 10-20 actually buyers and I feel like 20 is stretch, people generally like to see what their buying especially from an unknown company.

Trust me I understand what your saying. I'm the same way when it comes to buying anything from a company I don't know. Your right 20 or maybe 5 people might actually pay for it but eventually people will want to start shaving weight off their vehicles sooner or later and might want to get it.

and how strong would a carbon fiber hatch be so far as shutting the hatch? ive heard of carbon fiber hood splitting cuz of too much weight (ie, stupid people sitting on them). how would we know the hatch wouldnt crack when you shut it? i know carbon fiber is strong, but not that strong. i dont wanna have to pussyfoot my way aroung shutting my hatch.

I'm happy you said that. I'll find out tomorrow when my guy gets in to work
and get you and me the answer on that.

lets keep this on topic guys...if you have nothing to add or interest in this then there is no need for your comments.

I would be interested, not sure how soon you are planning for this to take off but I would like more information.

What type of weave?
Overall weight compared to a stock hatch?
Does it come with the lexan/glass windshield?
Is there an option for either one vs all of them being the same?
Will it have the stock moldings above the license plate and inside handle?
Will it still take a rear windshield wiper?
How is the inside of the hatch framed? Will it decrease the survival rate if the car is rear ended?

No emblems right?

I'd like to get one, but I would like to see a finished product, and also see if it was possible to just swap across the factory rear window.

i would think glass would be too heavy for a carbon fiber piece that large. it would flex too much.

Today they had chinese had new years or something like that so I couldn't get word on it but I'll keep everyone posted as soon as I get answers.

Got word back today on the hatch and it will take 6-8 weeks to get made and the stock glass can go in the carbon fiber hatch. Also the price will be price will be $100 more if only 15 get bought. So your looking at $600 for 15 made not $500 for 50 made. If any one is interested in getting let me know so I can talk to Antonie to make sure he is ok With the group buy before any one starts to make any payments on it. The hatch also will be able to shut like a factory one so you don't have to baby it to get it closed.

It can be done but the company won't guarantee that the glass will be in one piece when it gets shipped because of it might get cracked in the shipping process. But if you do want it and everyone else then it can
happen you'll just be taking a risk.

What about lexan? Why replace the glass?

i am game, if i can see a finished hatch. that way i know what i am getting. r their colors options?

Well we won't be able to see the finished product until I get an order in and as far as colors go it depends on how many people want it colored. That's also something you can get painted at a body shop. I'm going to be one of the 15 to get it myself so I'm not doing this to just get it made for you guys I want one too.
