Car Meets

Every Thursday night at our local Krispy Kreme Donuts parking lot, the VW, Audi, and Porsche people get together and have this huge car meet. I'm talking about 40 cars or more every Thursday! People take photos, exchange tips, etc., and it's so much fun. My boyfriend drives a Jetta, so that's why we go, but I wish we had the same sort of thing for our P5's. If only we all lived close to each other! I really enjoy everyone's posts and can only imagine how great it would be to share our mods in person.

I finally met one other guy in my neighborhood who has a P5 at that parking lot - he was buying donuts! Hehe... I told him to join the forum, so I'm expecting him soon. As far as a live car meet in L.A., it would probably be just him and me- not much of a car show, huh? LOL

Damn those german car peeps...lol....jk...sounds like that meet is cool...How many P5'ers live in SoCal from this site? Maybe you should try to put together a small meet...organize it in the "Car Meets" forum....a SoCal P5 meet. Its really cool when your able to meet up with fellow enthusiast and chat it up...hope it works!

Thanks for mentioning the site...:D

I think there are about five other So Cal people on these boards, but they're still kind of far - San Diego. That's about an hour and a half away. Was thinking of a summer barbecue, for which I wouldn't mind that drive, but not a weekly on like those German car folks. That's just a pipe dream...

As for mentioning the site, no problem. I'm always talking about it to my friends and they're thinking about getting P5's now. We'll see!

San Diego boy here! sorry my car is completely stock and probably will be for awhile, but I would love to check out all your cars :)

adragonfly - do you have any pics of your car?

I should have pics soon - picking them up at the developers tonight and will try to scan everything in if I have time. Otherwise, I'll have them up after tomorrow night for sure. :)

dragonfly....take your P-5 to the Krispy Kream....it would be the only one there....and would CERTAINLY draw some attention. :{D

INTRODUCE those people to a car with real style! :D

Those German drivers love the MP5. I went with my friend to a European autoshop and they all looked and wowed at my car for a good 15-20 mins. It was great getting the attention. Definately take yours to Krispy Kreme.

I don't know if you caught that I met another P5 owner there... He just happened to be buying donuts, but was parked an aisle away from the crowd. No one was interested at all, despite the fact that he was clearly within view. There's really nothing stopping me from taking my car there since most of those guys are my friends now, but I don't have much interest in seeing their stuff because none of it really applies to me.:(

I drive a 3-series and I LOVE my wife's P5. :)

I wish we had enough interest to do the same thing in Cincinnati. How long is the drive to the west coast? I need to take off 120 hours at work by 7/1 or I lose it.

I live in l.a., and actually I was wondering where the nearest Krispy Kreme was... this might work out just fine.

Gene, I live in Indy. I was planning a drive to Portland Oregon, and with no stops and averaging 60MPH including stops, I could do that trip in 40 hours. Add about 10-12 for Cali. (Maybe less, maybe more.)
I've done the long trip stuff before, but nothing over 24 hours straight. Averaged 72MPH with stops and all for 23 hours. (Best run yet) Really drains ya.
Just a thought. :D

Dome - where've you been hiding?!!! Saw you on the registry, but hardly anywhere else since then. The guy I ran into at Krispy Kreme just emailed me tonight to let me know he joined the forum. You'll see him around soon enough. Are you around the Brentwood area? I work there and see a silver P5 now and then. Could that be you?! LOL, I'm thinking we're going to have our own Krispy Kreme meet in the very near future. Now if only we could get our San Diego people to come up for a meet one of these weekends... hmmm... I'm hatching a plan!;)

i think that has to be true... i used to eat them all the time! I wanted to lose weight so I cut out a lot of junk food - Krispy Kreme especially - lost 25 pounds, which I'm happy about, but I sure miss those donuts! Haven't had one in over a year! Now when I think of Krispy Kreme, I think "car meet," not "donut." I think it's a good replacement, don't you?:D

its from that movie with Chevy Chase(?) where his family takes a road trip. it was actually 6flags magic mtn but they called it wally world in the movie. i think im right, i was a lil kid when i saw this movie

adragonfly-

I live in Mar Vist/West L.A. and work in Santa Monica, so you never know! Might have been me. I've seen another chap with a silver 5 in SM, but when I gave him/her a little honk I got a sour look.

This is true...the amusement part in National Lampoon's Family Vacation was called Wally World......HOWEVER....its also a slang term for WAL MART. :D
