well today i got into my first accident after nearly 8 years of driving. had a person cut across two lanes of traffic making a turn right in front of me. some one was letting him turn into a parking lot and i was in the right lane(the person was in the left lane stopped to let him turn) on a two lane road and he didnt even check my lane to see if anyone was coming. i was going about 35mph or so and only had about 2 car lengths to stop. when he realized someone(me)was coming in the second lane he tried to speed up to cross quicker but it wasnt enough. i hit the brakes the instant i saw his nose pop into my lane and in doing so locked the wheels and clipped his passenger rear quarter panel. he had a ranger pickup so there was like no damage to him but my hood is ******, the radiator and the rad support and the passenger quarter panel is bent. It will be fixed. doesnt appear to be any frame damage knock on wood. I'm going to try and go for a carbon fiber hood and a front lip if i can work it out. Good thing for me is that he was driving a busines truck so i might have a good chance to settle. the good thing for me was two witnesses waited for the cop to show up. intotal 3 people saw him pull out in front of me. he even admitted it was his fault. i guess the bright side is no one was hurt. i hate the fact my baby is damaged and in need of repair. i love this car and hope she returns to form.

Sorry to hear abt that. Good that u have a good driving record tho (to look at that info on the bright side lol). Now is a good time to put some $$ in to it, seeing as it'll have to be pulled apart regardless lol.

That sucks man, Same thing happened to me years ago. Also got witnesses. The car that cut in front of me was so far in. I split the other side of the car apart between the front and rear doors. Her car was totalled, I had $7K in damage to my truck.

Hope you get her fixed quickly, and correctly.

raider....i was thinging the same thing about adding new parts....i hope i can get enough out of this do some stuff i've always wanted to do.

just wait a few days, your neck might start to feel stiff. My whole left side of my body was bruised, but it got me only 2 grand, as I only cracked the plastic on the interior of the truck, not broke it off. I hit her with the drivers side front corner, then bounced the whole drivers side off of her Cherokee. Yeah, that was fun.

that doesnt sound good. well at least you werent seriously hurt though, right? I've been looking at other parts to replace with performanc stuff. so far i'm going to try and get a DG hood, awr radiator. Depending on what is ruined i might try for some other parts too. wish me luck with this guys....i sure as hell need it...this has been a really bad year.

Well here is an update on my car. got an estimate from the mazda body shop and it is so far $6411. I'm so pissed this asshole did this damage to my car. I have a bad feeling I'm going to lose my car forever.......I'M SO PISSED. If I do lose my car I'm ******. there is no other car out there that serves my needs like this car does. Where is doc emmit brown when you need him.

You shouldn't lose your car unless the damage is more than the vehicles worth, a total. I would find another body shop, besides the dealership. Although dealers are good for high estimates. Just my opinion. Hope it all works out for you and it comes back better than new.

Thats one of the worst feelnigs ive ever felt, the few seconds before your car mushes into the other car, in a sickening thud.

i got rear ended pretty bad today myself, bent my frame 2''

feeling your pain man.

keep us posted on repairs

It is a pain in the butt, but watch repairs closely and the job can be done correctly.......Since I am also in NJ, I would like to know who does the great work....And remember that my car is probably the cleanest, newest P5 around.....17K. no dings, driven only weekends, silver, leather 5-speed, sunroof, etc......that's if anyone makes an offer....I know a great body guy, but he is in princeton...keep us posted!!!!!!!

Why is it that the utility vans and business trucks that drive around town like maniacs never have one of those "How's my driving, call 1-800-xxx-xxxx" stickers...unless the x's happen to read EAT s***.
